The Bay State may get a visitor named Hanna this weekend. But weather forecasters say it won't be a painful visit and it won't last for long.
National Weather Service meteorologist Neal Strauss says right now it looks like the remnants of Tropical Storm Hanna will bring rain, with heavy downpours in some areas and possible flooding in urban and poor drainage areas. The storm will race through the region Saturday afternoon and Saturday night.
"It doesn't look like it's going to be a serious threat to the region. However, we are keeping our eyes on the situation closely, in case anything changes," he said.
Forecasters are currently expecting Hanna to gain strength in the next day or two. When it hits somewhere along the southeastern coast of the United States, it may be a Category 1 hurricane. But by the time it makes its way north to New England it's not expected to be so formidable.
"It will probably be a tropical depression by the time it makes its way up the seaboard into New England," Strauss said.
