Wayland woman struck, killed by car

An 80-year-old woman has died after being struck by a car in Wayland Thursday night, police said.
Marie Martino was struck near a crosswalk on West Plain Street. Police were called to the scene at about 7:44 p.m. Martino was taken to the Metrowest Medical Center in Natick, where she was pronounced dead shortly after 9 p.m., police said.
Lawrence Vannederynen of Natick, the driver of the gray Ford van that struck Martino as it traveled east on the street, has not been charged.
The accident is under investigation by Wayland and State Police. Police asked anyone with information to call them at 508-358-4721.
