The mouth of the northbound Tip O'Neill tunnel reopened at 11:10 this morning, after a 15-car pile-up closed it at 10:25 this morning, according to Massachusetts Turnpike officials.
The closure backed up traffic on Interstate 93 to Columbia Road. Turnpike spokesman Mac Daniel said initial reports indicate one injury believed to be minor.
The crash involved an empty school bus, two dump trucks, and a garbage truck, he said. None of the vehicles overturned.

thank God no one was seriously hurt -
Oh please, MeMe....Where was your God when it happened?
yeah thank god, but where is the photo of the cars all piled up? Sounds like a scene from a movie.
Boston drivers are a special breed, but NOBODY is good enough to stop a vehicle traveling at 50+ miles an hour when you're twenty feet away from their back bumper. Back off, people. You can still take pride in your Boston driving skills... and save some agony in the process.
Reminds me of a joke. A priest, a doctor and a lawyer walk into a bar and the bartender says, What is this? A joke?
If God wanted us to be in tunnels she would of made us Moles.
I think the drivers were just looking for an excuse to not have to take their kids trick-or-treating tonight.
God was busy taking me to work this morning.
WHY IS ALWAYS GOD'S FAULT? HE/SHE HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH THE CHOICES THAT A HUMAN MADE ALL BY THEMSELVES. PERHAPS THE GIFT THAT GOD GAVE EACH OF US, TO THINK AND TO ACT, MIGHT HAVE BEEN AN ERROR, YES? IT IS TIME TO GET OFF YOUR BUTT AND TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR EACH CHOICE YOU MAKE, QUIT POINTING A FINGER OUTSIDE OF YOURSELF (REMEMBER THE FINGER POINTING HAS FOUR MORE POINTING BACK AT YOU...INTERESTING) AND RECOGNIZE YOUR ACTIONS.
please chris, it is not the boston drivers that cause all the agony it is the outer city drivers that come here and do not know how to drive. If you can drive in boston you can drive anywhere maybe they should hold all out of town driving schools in the city of boston then there will not be any agony for US and yes thank GOD no one was seriously hurt.
Tailgating and Rubbernecking is the biggest reason for such pile ups.
Everyone is always in such a hurry to get nowhere. You will eventually
get to where you need to. Every one is in the same boat as you. Every one
is late. No need to rush, get so close to the back bumper of the car in front of you that you can see the pimples on the back of the drivers neck. Slow and steady boys and girls. Especially in that tunnel on both sides.
Why all the God talk on here? I've seen accidents, and there's never been any divine action involved. If we're going to "thank God" when no one is hurt, does that not imply that we then must blame God when someone IS hurt? Can't have your cake and eat it, too . . .
Deb sounds like the one that drives 55 in the third lane, because it's the right thing to do. You know who I'm talking about, she's got the "God is my co-pilot" bumper sticker....
Yes,
I agree when are people going to realize that tailgaiting is a huge accident waiting to happen. This could have been prevented. Dump trucks, buses and Garbage trucks no less. They should be more careful. People only learn the hard way. And all the South Shore people had to pay for it today. I think NH drivers are the worst though. They are all in a rush to beat their 2 hours commute. They think all the roads are wide open and free here. Learn to drive in Boston then get a job here. Or stay up in NH.
It was President Bush's fault!! Things like this wouldn't happen with Obama in the White House!!
Thank Buddha no one was hurt!
I blame Fannie Mae, and the dog next door that barks all night
no, I now blame OPEC. If gas wasn't so high in July, this wouldn't have happened.
I am god and I say get back to work!!!!
I am god and I say get back to work!!!!
I'm certain God was brought into this discussion just to divert us from the real culprit in this accident: an empty school bus loose in the tunnel.
Meme uses a common phrase and the majority of you jump all over him/her and blow it way out of proportion. Give me a break.
authorities should have closed the tunnel when accidents are about to happen!
Ha ha ha icpshootyz, that is not the case with me. I do have a lead foot. I admit it. I drive fast in the fast lane, that is why it is called the fast lane. But, I use caution. I have my family to think of. When there is traffic, EVERY ONE is in it, not just you. Where are you going to go? One car in front? Oh whoopdy doo. You made it far. I was just making a point that getting so close to the bumper in front of you gives you ABSOLUTELY no time to break yourself. Next thing you know, everone is slamming on their brakes and boom, there you have it, a 15 car pile up ANYWHERE, does not necessarily need to be in a tunnel.
where's waldo?
Women in mini-vans and loud-mouth male Pats fans are the biggest offenders of tailgating. For crying out loud, hang up your damn cell phones and try driving like a grown-up for once (you might even find you like it).
Obama did it! He was driving the school bus....
It's all Ohbama's fault... see what you Dem nut jobs are getting us into
All traffic problems on the highway are caused by someone going too slow in the lane they are in. 65 in the left lane? move right and let people pass you. 60 in the middle lane? move right and let people pass you. 55 in the right hand lane. You've got the idea... but any slower and use the access road.
OH! You're driving slow in the left hand lane because you WOULD be going faster then everyone in the middle lane if the person at the head of the line in the left hand lane would actually pass and move out of the way instead of going 60 and just sitting there?
That's what I mean by... "all traffic problems on the highway are caused by someone going too slow in the lane they are in.
Why can't people spend the time they waste blaming God learning how to drive?!
Listen up people If everybody drove like there was a cop in front of you and a cop in back of you, there would be NO accidents and NO tickets. Think about it as you drive home tonight.Oh and don't forget to tell your kids.
You're all wrong: Thank the Flying Spaghetti Monster that everyone is ok.
Hey No Holer, how about taking an English class or something? "...she would of..."? Awful.
The problem with tailgaters is that even if you try to stay a safe distance away from the car in front of you, someone will try to sneak into that safe gap, which leads to even worse tailgating, then everybody jamming on their brakes & causing a massive slow-down, if not an accident. That's why I semi-tailgate - trying to stay as far from the car in front of me as I can while at the same time not allowing anybody to cut in front of me into that perceived open space.

The last comment I made should have gone to The Commish and not
icpshootyz. Sorry about that.
It was all a diversion stirred up by none other than Dianne (stuff me with C Notes) Wilkerson. The Globe wanted to change the subject.
