Immigration officials announce increase in deportations

By Maria Sacchetti, Globe Staff

Federal immigration officials deported 3,836 immigrants from New England during the last budget year, up from 3,464 deportees the year before, the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement announced today.

The jump marked an increase of nearly 11 percent but was still about half the increase nationwide.

Nationally, deportations soared to 349,041 for the budget year that ended in September, up from 288,663 the year before, an increase of nearly 21 percent.

“We made a commitment to the American people to embark on an ambitious enforcement strategy aimed at securing our borders and strengthening our nation’s immigration system,” Julie L. Myers, the assistant secretary for Immigration and Customs Enforcement, said in a statement. “The record results seen across the country reflect significant, steady progress toward this goal.”

Myers resigned Wednesday, effective Nov. 15, to make way for the new administration.

The percentage of deportees in New England with criminal convictions continued to decline, even though combating crime and terrorism is the department's stated top priority. In New England, federal officials deported 1,017 criminal immigrants last year, about 26.5 percent of the total and a slight decline from the year before.

In 2005, 45 percent of the region's deportees were criminals.

Today, Todd Thurlow, assistant field office director for ICE detention and removal operations, said apprehending criminals and combating terrorism is the agency's chief priority, but the overall numbers reflect a variety of different sources. Some illegal immigrants are apprehended at airports or at the border and turned over to ICE, which increases the total numbers.

He pointed out that the overall number of criminals deported rose from 956 to 1,017, even though their share declined.

"We’re pretty consistent from this year to last year," he said. "We’re taking in more people and removing more people."

But Eva Millona, the executive director of the Massachusetts Immigrant and Refugee Advocacy Coalition, say the numbers show that ICE is apprehending more ordinary workers than criminals.

"The agency’s really putting a lot of resources into this and clearly the number of criminals is low," she said. "It really indicates that the resources are not going where they are supposed to be going."

  1. both my husband and i are out of work. i have been frantic over our financial problems and our inability to pay our bills and buy food for our family. i am so angry about all these immigrants coming in to our country and getting everything handed to them on a silver platter!! i bet they are all working too, right? of course i'm right. i applied for welfare and was told we are not eligible. How is this?? i did receive food stamps, oh a big wopping 130.00 per month for a family of four. before we lost our jobs, i was spending 200per week on groceries. what are we to do?? we will be amoung the homeless soon if we dont find jobs. this is pitiful and a disgrace to this country.

  1. "In 2005, 45 percent of the region's deportees were criminals."

    Wrong. They are ALL criminals.

Enough is enough. Round up all the invaders and put them on a bus. Whatever it takes.

  1. If you think that everything is handed to them is on a silver platter; then you don't know squat. Because they are not even eligible to apply for Welfare, medicare or any of the free benefits you think they can get. So if you want to rant and rave you might want to look at all those LEGAL CITIZENS CEO's that got the golden parachute while you lost your job. And if we recall correctly we are all immigrants here; besides the Native Americans. So instead of complaing and placing the blames elsewhere; maybe you should trying taking one of the low paying jobs the immigrants work at that U.S citizens turn their nose up at.

  1. It's about time!! I wish the politicians would listen to the majority of Americans on the issue of illegal immigration. We do not support amnesty and we want our current laws enforced.
We know what's best for our country. Stop telling us that you know better than we do. We are suffering from one of the worst financial crisis in years and we cannot afford to provide services for twenty million illegals and then their families.

  1. I know lots of immigrants, but I've never seen a silver platter. When they got their jobs, we weren't in a scary recession. They'll be getting laid off in the same percentages as people born here, or worse. Much worse. Working two jobs isn't being "handed" anything- it's earning it.

  1. As a member of a family who is also struggling, let me tell you your comments are very ignorant. This country was built on immigrants. And if it weren't for those immigrants you would not be where you are today. You are directing your anger to the wrong group.Yes the system has many flaws and loop holes, but guess what, Immigrants are not the ones to blame that you have no job, or are not receiving more money to help you provide with your family. It is because this failed goverment we are in this situation. America is the land of opportunity, and trust me if you want it bad enough, you find your opportunity. And it's Funny how the jobs immigrants usually have are the ones you would never even consider doing. Grow up! America...LAND OF THE FREE AND HOME OF THE LAZY!

My insurance ran out just after my surgery and i applied for masshealth (comp only took 16 months before i recived anything) so i could complete physical therapy. DENIED!! My partner at work, Alberto, HE RECIEVED FREE CARE!! i apllied for foodstamps, DENIED!! i was the only one in the welfare office ever to pay into the system and was DENIED!! Also when i was in the welfare office (in Brockton) i felt as though i was in a foriegn country!! i dished out over $6500 out of my pocket for taxes in 2005 and recieved no help!! last week my Mass. Rehab couselor (told him about Alberto and he has no problem with it!!) told me to sell my condo, i told him x amount of times its cheaper for me to live here than get an apartment. basically he said so what. i siad to him how much i dislike the government, he told me he was the government and to be quite or he would close my case. i told him to go ahead and walked out. i also caught him in a lie.

  1. Miss Nancy-
You can go clean houses, work in fast food restaurants, babysit and make a living, like most of those illegal immigrants do. And don't cry about not making any money because you just don't want to work any job or jobs that immigrants take.

  1. All that sounds really tough, but it still misses the point. People wouldn't even come here illegally if there were no JOBS for them, get it? It really is that simple. Nobody would bother to sneak up here all the way from Guatemala if there weren't dozens of sleazy employers with their back doors wide open. It's time to bring the hammer down on the REASON, not on the poor devils who want to work. Get real about it -- illegal aliens have been an underground industry for decades and the government has turned a blind eye. 80% of the fresh produce in America is picked and packed by South Americans -- they come for the work.

  1. You probably don't like to work. You just want to collect welfare. If you really want to work you will find a job....you probably want to be director, manager ........I am sure you are not looking for a landscaping job, nanny job
Give me a break ! The immigrants have 2-3 jobs, they are hard working people, you just stay home and smoke weed and want to collect welfare .

  1. It's about time we really do put "Country First". Liberals politicains are willing to put the welfare of illegal immigrants ahead of American citizens. It really is time for "change". Time to listen to the American people and not special interest groups that are only looking out for themselves.

  1. Anyone who thinks illegals do not qualify for welfare is ignorant. I was working for dcf until this past summer. The program is called emergency medicaid for non documented aliens. They are also eligible for food stamps and cash assistance based on their children. Once they cross the border and have a child they are fully taken care of. I know, I wrote millions of dollars of checks for them. I just couldn't do it anymore. I quit.

  1. All of you that are saying they are getting everything handed to them on a silver platter are ignorant. First of all, number 1, you and your husband need to go find another job. Most immigrants work minimum wage jobs, so its less likely they are taking your jobs and more likely they are serving you coffee and burgers at Dunkin' Donuts and McDonalds. And number 2, they are all criminals? How about all those CEOS that are American "citizens" that are walking away with BILLIONS while you and your American friends lose jobs and investments and retirement plans. Think about that. As for calling them invaders ... your ancestors "invaded" this country and took it away from the Native Americans. I'm assuming you're not Native American of course. Immigrants keep the world going round, legal and not. So get off your high American horse and embrace globalization. If it wasn't for that, you probably wouldn't be making as much money as you are right now, if any.

  1. Patty O'Reilly,
1 I was born here that makes me a citizen
2 My ancestors came here legally. They are IMMIGRANTS
3 These folks are here illegally. They are not immigrants. They are ALIENS
4 There is a path to becoming a citizen that is LEGAL. Many immigrants become citizens by following the rules.
5 Who are you to say what kind of work I am willing to do or not do.
6 have no idea what a CEO has to do with illegal aliens.

  1. "And if we recall correctly we are all immigrants here; besides the Native Americans."

No, I am not an immigrant. I was born here. Don't you dare insult me like that. I am so sick of that bogus excuse.

It's not about how hard they work, or where our great-great grandparents came from. It's about the *sheer numbers* of foreigners invading our country.

We place limits on how many people we allow into our country every year. And we do this for a reason. It's not a joke. It's not an exercise. It's real. And when millions and millions of foreigners ignore this and flood our shores- it's a real problem.

We do not need millions of Third World refugees with no skills, no knowledge of our customs, no ability to even speak our language, to flood our neighborhoods.

And just WHO are these people? Do we even know? No, we do not. Do we know if they have tuberculous? Do they mean us harm? We don't know- they just show up and move in next door- 15 to an apartment. If we object, we are labeled as "racists".

I'm sick of it. I have every sympathy for the person in post #1. That person is an AMERICAN. That person deserves our help. That person is who my grandfather fought the Nazis for. NOT for some foreign trespasser who thinks they are entitled the rights of an American- just because they showed up.

I think that you and your husband are disgrace for this country too. Sorry, you can only blame yourself for your problems.

  1. I am very familiar with the lives of illegal immigrants; there is no silver platter. Most work really hard: jobs that regular Americans would not do. They do not collect welfare. They can't for they lack the social security numbers. They work really hard and for less money. They can get hurt on the job with out the financial protection. They get taxes and social deducted from their pay checks, benefits they will never reap later for they are illegal immigrants. A lot of them live in awful conditions, overcrowded housing. They are in the US in the millions because the US some how benefit from their labor and it is unofficially allowed.

Posted by JDS November 6, 08 11:45 PM
  1. Joe Jraitiny, you're wrong. Illegals are getting welfare, food stamps, subsidized housing and free health care. It started out with them being given welfare, and other subsidies/benefits once they had a child here, then welfare dept heads started looking the other way, some approving applicants with no documentation, no means testing, no social security number, nothing. They also use forged and stolen documents, and get on welfare/benefits that way too. They can work, and earn as much as they want and still collect the maximum welfare benefits.

Citizens are being discriminated against by welfare programs, and illegals are milking them for all they can, it's the reason they can afford to live, and send remittances back to their home countries, plus drive new SUV's, have cell phones and other luxury items. Corrupt politicians provide what is essentially corporate welfare, to help employers costs down, and the burden is placed on the taxpayer.

  1. Irish, Chinese, Italian, South American, Polish, Spanish, Eastern European etc, etc............you want me to go on? What would the US be without these people? There would be no US without them. Where would you be if your parents, grandparents, great grandparents had been deported? Each and every one of the people who came to the US down through the years and their children and their grandchildren have contributed to making the US the greatest country on Earth. Embrace these people. These first generation immigrants are the ones who do the jobs that go to make your normal everyday life that little bit more comfortable. And guess what? If they all disappeared tomorrow, you'd notice it bigtime. Then you'd HAVE to do stuff that you'd never normally consider doing. Give them a break Nancy! Don't wait for these people to leave or be deported. Go get one (or two) of the jobs they do and see how it makes you feel then. Then see what other opportunities come from that. Good luck Nancy. Hope it all works out for you. God Bless the American Dream!!!

  1. I think allot of you are missing the point. It is "ILLEGAL" immigrants that are the issue. For some of you who consider the current reisdents, "US", as illegal over the native americans, well they came from some place else also, of course there were no attourneys arround to declare them illegal. We are now a nation of laws and there are legal ways to gain entry into our great nation. It is not crimminal or racial etc etc , to want the illegals deported. It is however crimminal to give illegals the services denied a citizen.

    Posted by redsox1 November 7, 08 03:43 AM
  1. The laws of the land specifically states that individuals have to go through the proper channels for entry into the U.S. Many people want to buck the system and admit immigrants into the country around these laws. All of these immigrant activist groups should look up the laws and follow them. Many employers use, and I mean "USE", illegal immigrants for financial gain and to get around paying proper wages. The immigrant activists won't mention this fact. Ilegal immigrants will dilute the wages in this country pure and simple. Al long as you have greedy employers who refuse to pay a living and fair wage then you will have illegal immigrants.

NOBODY handed ANYTHING to me on a 'silver platter'. I have never requested government financial assistance and do not wish to. Instead of scapegoating immigrants - of whom all of you except Native Americans were at one time - be thankful that we are here to supply your labor markets, cultural institutions, oh - and your cuisine. Thank You!

  1. So your partner at work got free care and you were denied? so you have a sense of injustice about it? too bad. Imagine being an 8 year-old boy and you learn that your father didn't come home. No license, "illegal", taken to detention center (a guantanamesque black-hole). You don't know when you will see him again. All because he was driving to water some rich, or even middle class roses, or trim a tree here and there in his gardening job. I know plenty of kids who live with this terror every day. Most of my students or their parents are undocumented. For them, the main terrorists are the people at HOMELAND SECURITY who take their parents away in the night.

I can't believe my grandfather, my father, other brave soldiers, and I risked our lives for such ignorant and selfish people. True, criminals & people who abuse the system should be deported. But hard working and honest people should be given a chance to form part of this society.

  1. Yeah, it's all the immigrants. Never mind that we exported our manufacturing base for ever more profits and lower prices. Never mind that top execs, top athletes and stars are paid obscene amounts. 700 billion bailout, that's your money BTW, and they use part of that money to pay the exorbitant salaries and exit payouts of the same people that got us all there. But yeah, blame it all on those criminal immigrants.
They did the same about 60 to 70 years ago in Germany. Then it was Jews and gypsies.

  1. I am a hispanic man who is second generation american. We were not taught to speak spanish in the house. We were given regular american names with no middle names. My grandparents came here legally and worked hard to be american. When they became citizens they were very proud. They worked hard to learn the language and critisized hispanics who refused to. My parent were given a hard time by other hispanics for not teaching us spanish, their answer was always, "we are american in america, here WE speak english, go back if you do not want to learn OUR ways". I feel the same way, if this wave of illegal hispanics do not want to learn our language, or our ways, GET OUT.

  1. If they are here illegally, they should be deported. It would be nice if we could make exceptions for individuals, but you cannot individually evaluate 20M illegals (or 349K deportees).

As for benefits, if you are illegal (or even a legal immigrant), everything is free

Posted by Not Obama's Aunt November 7, 08 06:13 AM
  1. They are not scapegoats. They are ILLEGAL MIGRANTS. There is a very big difference. Unless you are Native American, we are all immigrants. If your descendents entered without authorization, then you, AND them should go back where you came from too. It is a federal crime to just sneak in to America.
That would make you a criminal, not a citizen!!!

  1. @ 1 that $200 a week that u spent for groceries would have to be $500 a week if it weren't for the cheap and hard labor of the immigrants. The people that complain about not finding a job should be specific and say, I can't find a job that pays me enough to afford my cell phones, internet, flat screen tv, car, $100 a weekend drinking at the local bar, the weed habit, and it interferes with my lazy-boy time. If silver platter means crossing the border through the desert at risk of dying or getting killed just so that you can break your back working all day in construction or some restaurant kitchen and then go home with the fear that some ignorant bigot neighbor will call ICE and you will be picked up and sent back then I don't think any american would want that silver platter.
All this comes from someone that payed about $35,000 in taxes last year so that you could get that welfare check.

FACT: In the last 22 years, over 26 million illegals, have been apprehended, after crossing the border, into our United States.

THE PROBLEM IS: Less than 1, out of 4 illegals, are estimated to have been apprehended.

    Mind boggling, isn't it.

According to the U.S. Immigration Service another 6 million illegals in this country are visa overstays. That is, they got a visa legally in their home country, they came here to visit and then they never left.

In the last 22 years, there have been another 4 million anchor babies born to illegals. Anchor babies are now being born at a rate of 350-400 thousand per year in our United States. All at our expense!!

Then the ANCHOR BABIES qualify for welfare, food stamps, section-8 housing, all at our expense.

American Taxpayers are getting screwed, over, and over, and over, again!!!

Each illegal immigrant, on average, costs taxpayers $9,000 PER YEAR, over, and above, anything they might contribute in taxes!!!

Mandate, AND STRICTLY ENFORCE, E-Verify for ALL employers, for ALL employees, and for ANY benefit, and the I.C.E. raids, as well as all of the expemsive new detention facilities, would not be needed.

The illegals would have to begin leaving of their own accord.

Think of the economic effect of giving the 8.7 million jobs, that the illegals have illegally obtained, using forged, or stolen documents, back to Americans.

Think of the economic effect of 65 billion more dollars being spent in our United States, rather than being remitted to Mexico, and South America.

Think of the money saved by decreasing I.C.E.'s effort.

Think of it, and then let's do it!!!

BOYCOTT ANY BUSINESS THAT HIRES ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS!!!

AND LET THEM KNOW ABOUT IT!!!

  1. When I was I child, I worked in the fields during the summers and winters, harvesting crops from the age of 5 to 17. During this time, I never saw any Whites, Asians, African Americans only Latino faces. "Taking jobs away.....I don't think so". This was over 25 years ago.

I was exposed to the a strong work ethic . In addition, my parents showeds us how budget our money and invest. Since then, I have a graduate degree, own my own business and have branded my business on a national basis.

I don not feel sorry for people who say "poor little me"... If everyone would learn how to budget their money they wouldn't be complaining.

My parents worked in the fields for over 45 years. We saved our money and now everyone owns their own home and we are not scared because we saved our money . We did not spend our money on things we didn't need. We didn't have to have the latest cars, designer clothes, take fancy vacations and have the latest technology. We lived with in our means.

Do not complain, take action as my family did. I created my own success. It took time, dedication and countless hours but I did it. It's called "sacrafice." I would stay up till 2 or 3 am, worked on the weekends for 3 1/2 years to build my business and never gave up because I had a dream. It takes guts and courage to make things happen.

Make your own dreams come true....take responsibility of your future...don't blame others for your bad choices in life.

All your choices in life lead you to where you are today. You voted...did you know where and how your political appointee voted? If not....your need to be informed.

  1. Dear Editor.. please delete previous email...

When I was I child, I worked in the fields during the summers and winters, harvesting crops from the age of 5 to 17. During this time, I never saw any Whites, Asians, and African Americans only Latino faces. "Taking jobs away.....I don't think so". This was over 25 years ago.

I was exposed to the a strong work ethic. In addition, my parents showed us how budget our money and invest. Since then, I have a graduate degree, own my own business and have branded my business on a national basis.

I don not feel sorry for people who say "poor little me"... If everyone would learn how to budget their money they wouldn't be complaining.

  1. #37 Hit the nail on the head...

This all started folks with Senator Teddy and his Immigration Act of 1965. He is the one to blame for this mess. This act increased the number of people allowed in the country to a level that's not sustainable by our infastructure. The illegals are not going to stop coming becuase big gov't and big business see them as a cheap labor source and they all embrace "globalization".

In addition to post #37, reduce the legal immigration levels back to pre-1965.

For those still "confused" about illegal versus legal - there's no hope for you, you've been hood-winked.

Illegals cannot obtain any benefits from the system unless they have documentation. PERIOD. All applications are VERIFIED with the Department of Homeland Security. In fact, a MAJORITY of illegal immigrants have taxes taken from their paychecks, but will never be able to collect the benefits! I think you are thinking of a small minority of the group that are driving around in brand new SUVs and using the newest technology. Most illegal immigrants can afford to send money home because money here is worth a lot more than money from their native country. Hence, a hundred dollars American goes a long way in Mexico, but does very little here in America now. Go to the Southwest and see what the illegals are doing there. Most live in shanty communities, living poorly, just to obtain a better life than they had back home. Just because there are some illegals in the Northeast abusing the system by using "forged documents" (do you know how hard it is to forge a green card?? it essentially has a computer chip built into it, attached to the federal system) doesn't mean that EVERY illegal is. Like I said before, how about all those CEOs abusing everyones money?? No one says they should be punished, or are criminals here. America has bigger problems than illegal immigrants. In reality, illegals actually benefit the GDP. Check the facts.

  1. ICE rounded up thousands of Illegal Aliens, in this past year, who have stolen jobs from American citizens.

ICE rounded up 600 illegal aliens at Howard Industries, in Laurel, Mississippi, working here, illegally, all committing felonies, using fake or stolen documents. The next day U.S. citizens, were lined up for those jobs.
Illegals do jobs cheaper, not better. They are here, because they sell themselves out, as slaves. We made this country great. Not illegals.

Stop the hatred and bigotry, towards our U.S. citizens.

  1. PLEASE FIGHT BACK AND STOP AMNESTY FOR ILLEGAL ALIENS!
go to numbersusa.com and register to fight back!

ILLEGAL ALIENS KILL, ON THE AVERAGE, 25 AMERICANS EVERYDAY!

  1. NumberUSA.com is a fantastic site! But the truth of the matter is, here in MA our delegates do as they see fit. Isn't that right Mr. Frank, Mr. Kerry, and Mr. Kennedy? We can fax/phone them all day and they will simply igore our requests. They know better than us "little people" what is good for us. It's our own fault though, we vote them in, every time. Hopefully Kerry will be brought to the Cabinet and then we'll be able to vote in someone worthwhile. That is if Deval doesn't change the law on appointing a Senator, like they did to Gov. Romney.

  1. Joe Jraitiny-
If the illegals go to the hospital, they can not be denied care. Illegal's children go to school, no one can deny this. Both of these entities are part of the U.S. infastructure. These people are using these facilities, i.e. obtaining benefits from "our" system at no cost to them. Also, do you really think that the majority of the illegals here are working above the table and paying taxes??? Seriously, let's think about this. If they can not obtain illegal documentation, which is committing fraud by the way, so the subset of the 20+ million committing this act is another strike against them. But for the sake of arguement, I agree it would probably be tough to get fraudulent documentation, thus they working under the table at restraunts, construction sites, landscaping, hotels, etc. You'll argue with me now that they pay sales tax and that's good for our economy, fine they pay that tax. But I think that the majority of their funds are wired out of the country. Not good.

No one in this blog is denying anyone from coming here. Just do it legally, like our ancestors did.

  1. Illegal immigrants have paid BILLIONS into social security and medicare. Sure some don't pay, but a good portion of them do, to show signs of good citizenship. And the money they pump into the economy through sales taxes are just a plus.

  1. Problem is that when one person gets on the bus after a long wait he does not want others to get on. That about sums up the anger towards illegal immigrants. If you who got on first, have the guts, the honor, the decency, the inclination, the desire, the need, then start doing the jobs that the illegals are doing. Can you do the work of a gardner or that of a hotel maid or a home building construction worker ? I didnt think so, so stop complaining about the $130 in food stamps. At least you are getting them. Is the illegal guy ? no ? is he paying taxes ? yes, sales tax on all he buys, so cut out the chocolates, the soda the and you can make do in the $130 and / or go out and clean peoples homes or make beds in the hotel room that will give you the balance $70 you need and dont complain if you are not a native american, EVERYONE is an immigrant here starting from your parents to grandparents and lastly get some education

  1. Why do conservatives rely on ideology over intellect? Endlessly repeating some anti-immigration slogans you have memorized is not proof of intelligence, a parrot can do that. Shouting old lies doesn't create new truths.
I came here with some advantages: white, English as a first language, capable. All that guaranteed me was a chance to compete at the very bottom of the ladder. Did I put Americans out of a job? Yes, I did - by doing the work of three men. My workmates were surly, lazy, and poorly skilled. They refused to learn new skills and refused to follow my lead. I made it clear that it was okay with me if they sat and smoked as long as they did not try to take credit for my work. The only sensible option for our boss, a landscape architect, was to let them go, increase my wage a bit, toss me the keys and let me have at it. Was he wrong to do that?

  1. Send all the illegals home,TODAY.They have 5 millions mortgages, millions of car loans, hundreds of millions of dollars in credit cards.TOMORROW will be bankrupt!

  1. I was born and raised in MA. I now work for the Dept. of Homeland Security in the southwest. Before the DHS I was a licensed plumber working on larger scale commercial jobs. Every worksite I was on there were illegals getting work. Siders, roofers, painters, drywallers, and framers just to name a few. To say that these illegals do work that noone else wants to do is ridiculous. I know plenty of americans that would gladly have taken any one of those jobs. I got to the job at 6 in the morning and left 6 at night while my illegal counterparts were getting to the job at 8 or 9, if they showed up, and then leaving at 2 or 3. Some illegals may work hard, but not all. Just like some Americans may work hard, but not all. The owner of these businesses hire illegals and pay them under the table and then bid the job so cheap that no honest business would ever be able to match or beat the bid. These business owners are going to keep doing it until the laws are changed on prosecuting business owners for hiring these people. Not only do these people take jobs from Americans but they also take them from people that immigrate here legally.
People that come into this country without proper documentation are criminals. If they come into this country legally and overstay there visa, they just became illegal and thus criminals. Wether or not they are "good" people and work hard does not change the fact that they broke the laws and are criminals. These people do receive benefits. I have seen it first hand. It's not as hard as you think to get false documents. It just takes a little bit of cash. In some states they can get legal documentation. Licenses and identification cards.

They pay sales tax. Wonderful. What about the 33% or so that Uncle Sam takes out of my paycheck every other week. Do they pay that. No. The majority of them walk out on payday getting paid cash. They keep what they need to survive until next payday and then they send the rest home. Someone wrote that some of them pay into Social Security and medicare to show good faith? How? Not likely.

I am not Native American. My ancestors however came here legally. They came here legally, not by fraud or sneaking across the border.

I am successful now and I was before as a plumber, but I still don't want these people here no matter how "good" they are. I am thankful everyday for what I have but I still worked hard for it. It was not given to me. I am also thankful for being an American. I don't sense the same pride in some of these comments. I read these comments and see people taking the sides of criminals and putting down their own countryman without personally knowing either one. I am for Americans, unfortunately that includes the hardworking and the lazy, but I am not for people coming here illegally and working illegally, wether or not they are hardworking.
P.S. These are my personal feelings and opinions and not that of the Department of Homeland Security.

  1. GREED!!!! started it all and now that we are faced with the affect of it.... I mean GREED!!!!!!! What should we do ???. Well insulting each other has gotten us no where so how about we begin to think with reason! Oh I forgot it is much harder to reason together when we become hungry and no longer have the resources to feed ourselves........ Yet we still need a reasonable solution to the problem. Oh I forgot financial problems are the hardest to deal with that's why so many of us divorce and our families fall apart........ I'm not trying to be funny because loosing everything one has worked for all their lives is devastating to say the least. I have witnessed GREED on every level from the greatest to the least...... I mean have we not come to function as every man for himself !!! Maybe we can start by deporting those who are criminals and tear America down and give the hard working people half a chance to become American Citizens so they can become a real part of the solution and help to our society.
