"What's waiting two or three hours when we've been waiting two of three generations for this type of leadership.''
-- Governor Deval Patrick at St. Mary's School, quoting a Floridian who voted early over the weekend. See video

South End, Boston

"I think this time everybody has something to say."
--Roland Baron, 64, standing in an hour-plus long line outside Cathedral High School

"I expected to wait a half an hour to an hour. That's why we came early as opposed to after work. The nice day made it easy."
--Bill Wolff, a 63-year-old retiree who voted at Washington Manor Apartments

Lynn

“I’m here just to encourage people to exercise their right to vote. If you don’t bother to vote, don’t bother to complain.” -- Calvin Anderson, who was dressed in a flag suit outside North Shore Community College

Jamaica Plain, Boston

“We’re not a swing state, but people still want to get their voices heard.”
--Erin Knepler, 28, who dreamed last night of an Obama victory

Roxbury, Boston

"Given how our economy is going, it's worth getting out of bed to go vote."
--Annette Grant, 42, who got up at 4:20 a.m. to be at her polling place before 7 a.m.

"Obama and Chang-Diaz! Both are historic! Obama and Chang-Diaz! Both are historic!"

Natick

"Obama hasn't got the experience in my opinion. We need someone with real strong experience."

Hyde Park, Boston
"I'm not just voting for [Obama] because he's black, but because he's the right person. I believe he is on our side of the people who don't have a whole lot."

--Maria Maddrey, 43-year-old nursing assistant who voted at Greenwood Elementary School

West Roxbury, Boston

“It’s all very exciting. I teach adult ed in Dorchester and I get choked up talking about” the election. It shows that a “non-white kid” can become president. “For my kids, it represents a huge opportunity.”

Jack Cheng, a teacher who voted at St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church

Holbrook

"I'm voting yes [on Question 1] even though I'm not really in favor of it. I would prefer to see all other taxes eliminated -- sales, excise, telephone, liquor -- rather than income tax. If this passes, the state will be forced to do something in response.''

--David Baskin, 83, an accountant who voted at Holbrook Junior-Senior High School

North Andover

"I agree with all his [McCain's] views and Sarah Palin's. I feel he's the only one that can really back what he says."

-- Kim Gilboard, 37, a stay-at-home mother who voted at North Andover High School

  1. When I handed the woman at the polling place (Roxbury 12-1) my ballot for Obama, I realized that I had waited all my life to cast this ballot and I started crying. As I tried to cover up my tears, she smiled at me and said "There's a lot of that here today, honey."

  1. God Bless the Sheeple of Massachusetts. No matter how invasive nor corrupt Democratic government becomes, nor how Marxixt their icons like Obama and Wilkerson are, the voters take their bumper sticker brains into the voting booths.

  1. haven't gotten there yet...have to work first.
Will vote on the way home from work as the voting place is right around the corner.
I don't care that I will have to wait--it warms my heart to see so many people coming out--it is the WAY it should be.
You can't complain if you don't participate.

  1. AM VERY EXCITED THAT B.O. PROBABLY WILL WIN. WITH A DEMOCRAT CONGRESS AND PRESIDENT IT IS TIME DEMOCRATS WILL SEE HOW DANGEROUS THIS PARTY IS FOR AMERICA. I AM HAPPY THEY WILL LEARN THE HARD WAY HOWEVER FEEL BAD FOR THE INNOCENT PEOPLE WHO SAW WHAT B.O.'S WIFE SAW. WHEN SHE WAS ASKED IN 2005 WILL HER HUSBAND RUN FOR PRESIDENT SHE ANSWERED "OF COURSE NOT, HE HASN'T DONE ANYTHING YET" SAD THAT THE CANDIDATE'S WIFE KNOWS MORE THAN DEMOCRAT AMERICANS.

  1. I think we'll be seeing a historic change in how Americans see the voting process after today. A positive change.

  1. I've voted in every election since I was 18 and I've never seem the turn out like I saw this morning. The lines where not bad, and the usual poll workers had everything in hand.

  1. It felt great to get out and vote this morning my 16 year old daughter is doing a project for school and came along. I saw young and old voters, young people who could not vote but wanted to hit the polls with their parents to say they went.

I hope people are not discouraged by the long lines so please bring a book/chair stay wait and cast your vote.

    This is history!

  1. Small lines at 11am, in and out in about 15 min. Walked to the polls, a beautiful New England day.

  1. At my polling place in Plymouth, arrived around 9:50 and was out by 10:10. It was the busiest I've seen it for our little spot in our community in quite some time. It was great to see a special voting booth set up for kids to vote - teach them early to appreciate the freedom we take for granted. Now if only Massachusetts would require positive identification to ensure you are who you say you are...but that's a different battle for a different time.

  1. 1. The polling place in my small town west of Boston was busy with a constant stream of voters mid-morning and only short lines. This is the 9th presidential election in which I've participated since being eligible to vote in 1976 and the first time I'm "goose-bumpy " over voting. I always take special care and pride to vote but today feels different. I feel the energy of my ancestors, who probably never would have voted for a black man, but who now from their heavenly perch are sending me vibes of "well done" and "yes, Amercia, is so needy and ready for the transformative presidency of Barack Obama.” So ready, indeed.

Posted by US patriot November 4, 08 11:43 AM
  1. It took me about 30 minutes to vote this morning. Although my vote for Mccain is wasted in this state I hope the vote for Beatty, and the yes votes on all three questions will make a difference.

    Posted by Tim D November 4, 08 11:50 AM
  1. Not all polling places have long lines. In Wilmington my polling place was busy, but no lines due to great organization. I hope people aren't discouraged to vote with all this bad news. Head to the polls, it might not be as bad as you think

  1. I am becoming increasingly annoyed with all of the politicians in my district that run unopposed every freakin election…Do you realize that the only choice I had on my ballot this morning was president… I don’t count Kerry because he was virtually unopposed…

BTW... no line this morning ... In and out in 10 mins.

  1. I didn't think that this would happen in my lifetime. To vote for the first Black Persident of the United States of America is an honor and a priviledge! At the end of the day it is not his color that we are voting for it is his genuine integrity and heartfelt compassion for humanity that is going to CHANGE THE WORLD.

  1. Today is a very historic vote for every person who believes in a democracy. I cast my vote and look at the woman and said "I just made history".

  1. I have voted in every major election since 1988.

This is the first time (in twenty years) that I actually couldn't wait to get up this morning and vote!

    Go Obama!

  1. My polling place which usually has no line had a 25 minute wait at 8:20 this morning. A beautiful day and it was nice to see suce a diverse group of people. I know of one woman who is nearing a 100 who hasn't voted in many years who is making sure she gets out to vote today.

Posted by Joe Richard November 4, 08 12:06 PM
  1. First of all - great to get this over with after nearly 2 years! Also good to remember that voting is the great equalizer in our democracy--all of our votes are important and we all have the opportunity to make our wishes known through casting a vote. I will say though that one huge weakness still centers around the actual voting process. I voted at Boston City Hall this morning--the voting opened at 7:00 and I joined the line at 7:17. It took exactly one hour to get inside the building and another 10 minutes beyond the door to wrap it all up. Please tell me why in an election predicted to potentially have the greatest turnout EVER a major polling station like Boston City Hall has precisely ONE person checking voter names from a list and ONE person handing out ballot while hundreds wait in line? Surely we can make this experience more efficient, faster and one that will encourage-rather than discourage - people to actually go out and vote.

  1. I was about 10th in line at 6:30 a.m. in a mid-Cambridge polling station. By the time I left at 7:15, the line was double-snaked around the stairwell, and the line down the stairs was soon out the door. In the morning sunshine, a strong wave of relief came over me as I set out for work.

    Change feels good already!!

  1. Today's the day to put divisiveness behind us. Whatever the outcome, let's move forward together as a united people. The times demand no less if we are to remain a vital, viable and vibrant nation.

Everyone, please vote. It is our duty and responsiblity. So many have died to give us this honor. Don't take it lightly. Stand in line if you must, but please do vote!

  1. I voted in Waltham this morning at 8:20 and it took about 30 minutes of wait time. Not bad at all. The poll workers were quite dedicated and the voters were very cooperative. I earned my right to vote a decade ago and I first voted in the 2000 national election. Today, I felt very happy to exercise my right to vote not only for the presidency but also for other local posts as well as for the ballot questions. Thank you so much to those who have established the foundation for me to earn and exercise my basic rights as a US citizen and thank you to those who are inspiring me to trust them and vote for them.

  1. I'm saddened by all these cynical McCain/Palin voters who can't see that the tide is turning not only in this country, but in the world. Obama may not have the experience of years in government, but he has inspired a nation and the world to something greater, something transcendent, and that's something VERY few politicians can do. I don't agree with all of his policies and ideas -- I don't know a single thinking person who does, or who should -- but he is our best chance to make the world better.

The McCain of 2000 might have been able to do what Obama is doing now. But he sold his soul. His cynicism got the best of him. Don't let that happen to you.

  1. It was exciting to see a line of about 30 people as I pulled up to my polling location in Swampscott at 6:45 this morning. Lots of conversation and excitement in line. None of us had ever seen a line here before. This is truly an exciting day. Partly because of the historic nature. Partly because I AM SO GLAD THE CAMPAIGN IS ENDING!!! 20+ months is just too long to endure. I hope I'm a happy camper tomorrow.

  1. Standard Right-Wing response #103:

Paragraph 1: Angrily complain about bias in the Boston Globe, which apparently you are forced to read every day. Bonus: Say that you are canceling your subscription (even though everyone knows you don't live here and only read the free version online).

Paragraph 2: Spout off about "facts" you learned on right-wing conspiracy web sites and blogs that only you are dumb enough to believe. Channel anger at your ex-wife and dead-end job into your rant. Include all the most recent republican talking points, proving to everyone that you are smart because you believe what you were most recently told to believe. Bonus: Non-ironically suggest that anyone who disagrees with you is brainwashed or stupid or both.

Extra Points #1: Misspell several words, include obvious grammatical errors, misuse "your" and "you're" or "there" and "their" at least once each.

Extra Points #2: Make such an angry but poor argument that some readers wonder if you are actually a liberal jokingly trying to parody conservatives.

Extra Points #3: Don't acknowledge the fact that the last eight years have been a complete disaster. Expect everyone to listen to you as if your complete lack of introspection and excessive paranoia and anger is a sign of conviction or courage when we all know it is really the opposite.

  1. I understand where #1 is coming from. I did not sleep at all last night and almost cried. With my own personal thoughts aside: no matter who you vote for.. your vote DOES count. Also, anyone voting in JP today? I am at work and have been trying to time voting for less of a line.

  1. I am proud to have the choice of voting for two, honorable, thoughtful candidates. It is refreshing after eight years of cynical manipulation and weak leadership to choose between a true american hero and a pulled-up by-his-own-bootstraps minority figure. No doubt either man will make a formidable president. I try not be be disheartened by the angry people who feel it is the end of the world if their candidate does not win. Folks . . . there is a limited amount ANY president can do; the impact of HOW they do it will be much greater than WHAT they do. Both of these men will bring a much better HOW to the white house.

Posted by brian November 4, 08 01:06 PM
  1. Some of these comments make me sick. "I voted for the first black president!"
It's not about that. It's about voting for the most qualified candidate to lead the free world in a time when we are at war with insane jihadists and when our economy is in tatters.

No! Who you voted for is a vastly underqualified, junior senator with 145 days of legislative experience. You voted for a man who makes poor decisions about who he associates with and cannot reasonably explain them. You voted for a man who can't nail down difinitive thoughts on any major issue, be it foreign policy, economy or taxation. Actually we know he will raise taxes, but he consitantly lies about his wealth barrier. He will cut our defense and entertain terrorist/zionist state leaders. He will weaken this country. Enjoy your day, and get ready for a dark period in American history. Socialism.

John - look to your OWN party - Pelosi, Reid, and more importantly, Barney FRANK, who had a VERY large hand in the economic crisis. And yet Barney fans continue to vote in the very man who took a boatload of money from Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, and wouldn't approve restrictions - "No, no restrictions are needed - Fannie and Freddie are just FINE the way they are!"

So please - don't blame the economic crisis on just the Republicans - the Democrats had plenty to do with it - blame goes BOTH ways in this situation. And yet Demo-Lemmings will continue to vote in those very people who claim they're "for the people" (like Dianne Wilkerson?) and yet continue to take the money from the lobbyists when it pleases them and benefits them. Throw the whole LOT of 'em out and start over. But please - people - see that Barney Frank isn't the solution - he's part of the PROBLEM! Especially when he refuses to look in the mirror and see that he's done just as much harm as any politician on the other side of the aisle.

  1. I live in Walpole and voted at the Old Post Road School. The parking lot was filled to capacity by the time I arrived at 6:48am. There were already at least 150 people waiting on line ahead of me. With that having been said, the line-up moved very quickly and efficiently, and I was out of the polling place and back in my car at 7:23am. 25 minutes altogether; I usually spend longer than that at my local Shaw’s, and I don’t like to shop!

FWIW, I voted for both change and the status quo, depending on the candidate and question. I voted for the Obama-Biden slate for Executive Office.

I voted NO on Question 1, since a repeal of the state income tax would already decimate an already threadbare state government; YES on Questions 2 and 3. I don't condone the use and posession of cannabis, but for a person to receive a "scarlet letter" for life for what is a (usually) youthful transgression is ridiculous. Making possession of a small amount of marijuana a civil rather than criminal infraction both gives minor (age and/or amount) cannabis users a break while, at the same time, allows law enforcement to concentrate their energy on REAL criminal activity! Also, dog racing is a barbaric and neanderthal practice. Greyhounds, no matter how well bred, fed, and taken care of, do not have the stamina of horses (the other type of animals often raced for sport). Yes, I am terribly sorry to see anybody, including race track employees, lose their jobs. I am also sorry for all the other white and blue collar employees of Massachusetts who have lost their jobs in this recessionary economy.

In my municipality, the Town of Walpole, I voted YES on Question 4 to override Proposition 2 1/2 to upgrade our town's hideously antiquated Public Library. It has gotten so bad that I often drive to newer, more modern, and better equipped libraries in nearby Wellesley, Weston, or Newton. Yes, those three have a higher socio-demographic profile than Walpole, but Plymouth and Watertown, communities with approximately the same per-capita income as Walpole, have also recently rebuilt their Public Libraries, with great results.

The average tax increase will be just over $100 per year, per household. What annoys me are the elderly opponents of this referendum, indeed, any referendum which would benefit the overall community. I am not talking about senior citizens on fixed income who have to juggle to pay for food, medicines, and electricity (especially for comfortable heating/air conditioning).

I am talking about the elderly and, indeed, other "small businessmen" who drive around in late-model Lincoln Town Cars and/or Navigators, own properties on the Cape and in Florida in addition to their "hometown" near Boston (I'm referring to Walpole in this case, but one can substitute practically any community to the south and southwest of Route 128).

OK, off of the soapbox. Thank you for reading.

  1. This is the second election that I have ever been able to vote in and it felt so good because for the first time I truly followed all the debates. Looked up all the facts on CNN after each debate even took notes. I also helped a group of my friends register to vote and when they told me that they also hit the polls early I was so proud. The importance of this election determines so much but, most importantly the future of my niece and nephew which makes me even prouder to know I voted. I voted at the pingree school in weymouth, was in and out in less than 5 mins and they were very well organized in getting people in and out. Regardless of who your voting for you don't have a voice unless you vote so if you don't get out there and do it DO NOT COMPLAIN if the person you wanted to win doesn't.. EVERY VOTE COUNTS!! I am sick of hearing people say my vote is just one vote is does not count.. now think if everyone said that.. And yes I voted for change and voted for obama.. because I simply researched what was important to me..... and voted that way!!!!

The last person to inspire us that way brought us the Bay of Pigs, Cuban Missile Crisis and the Vietnam War. But everyone just loves to talk about how experience is less important than "inspiration".

Ask not what your country can do for you, but how much you can pay in taxes to do something for your country.

  1. Waiting in a long line in Jamaica Plain, my fellow voters and I were greeted by a schoolbus full of 7 to 10 year olds screaming O-B-A-M-A, O-B-A-M-A!! While their excitement certainly reflected the liberal leanings of the neighborhood, it brought some comic relief and it was nice to see people from all walks of life excited and coming together for Obama.

After having the honor to vote for something meaningful, seeing the pride on my neighbors' faces and standing up to a party of vicious attacks and bigotry, I just feel sorry for McCain/Palin backers who couldn't experience the same.

  1. Quick Question to the "Weepy " "Goose Bumped" commenters who voted for Barack: Would you have voted for him or posted the comments if his name was Brock O'Brien? Be honest - No. Voting for race and the promise of change? Yes it is a beautiful day out there so I'll be generous and say "Naive at best....
One more question - you go out and vote and return home only to find that your house was vandalized, your wallet stolen etc. How's that for change?

  1. As a Republican, I decided to give Obama a chance since Bush really screwed the Party and I could not vote for Sarah Palin no matter what. McCain tossed the election by not picking Mitt to counterbalance Obama's image.

But I also met with my tax accountant this AM to insure my "salary" goes below 200K in 2009. Most international business will stay out of the US for us. Every hard working small business owner I know is doing the same worse case planning.

I'll give these guys a chance but I am maxed out at kicking in .42 (fed + state) of every dollar I make on government waste. I am planning accordingly.

  1. It's so disturbing that so many people vote based on race. You can't cure racism with more racism. I've asked many liberal friend to explain just one Obama economic proposal that will help the economy. They can't, they just think it would be nice to vote for a black man.

Sadly, there will be no unity or bipartisanship in an Obama administration. He (and most of you) show open disdain for anyone who doesn't agree with you. The Fairness Doctrine will silence those pesky Republicans and most of you think that is good. If only you could outlaw FNC you'd really be happy wouldn't you.

For a preview of the coming "bipartisanship" look no further than Obama's likely Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel and his infamous "f... republicans" comment. What is coming is single party rule without any checks and balances, hate speech laws, attacks on the 1st and 2nd amendments, income redistribution, reparations and taxation to fund trillions in socialist programs.

Imagine the parties tonight by all the terrorist groups that enthusiastically supported Obama. They'll be dancing in the streets along with all the American Sheeple.

Scary to think people are still voting for "change" which we have yet to see here in MA, nor has our buddy Obama mentioned to tell us what the "change" will be. Politics in general are pretty pathetic. And for all those who feel Obama is more like them...do you own a 2 million dollar home? At least McCain doesn't pretend to be in the middle class.

Also, if anyone thinks that all republicans love GWBush, they are just as ignorant as he is, he's an idiot and one of the worst things to happen to this country. He's going to cause us to vote in someone who is even worse...

So many uninformed voters voting on dreams vs. reality. I believe we can look back at this day in 20 years as the day that lead to the bastardizing of the Consitution and the end of the American Dream as our grandparents knew it.

Taking from the productive to give to the unproductive is a purely socialist idea. Socialism doesn't have a great history of success.

The most beautiful, poignant moment I experienced this morning while waiting in line to vote in JP... a school bus filled with middle school kids drove by and the crowd of young people of color were literally hanging out of the windows, chanting at the crowd of voters at the top of their lungs, "O-BA-MA! O-BA-MA!" Their excitement for this day, this moment in history was palatable. I just hope we don't disappoint them.

  1. Sarah Palin does NOT equal REAL AMERICA! In no way does she represent me or anyone I know. She does not have the experience or intellect to be in the position that she is. She has made a mockery of candidacy and continues to dumb down America, just what we do NOT need here in the States.

Sarah is the governor of state with a population smaller than Memphis, Tennessee. Palin was Miss Congeniality in a beauty contest. Governor Palin has struggled to complete coherent sentences/responses to questions during on air interviews and even in the VP debate; addressing America as if it was a PTA meeting. Palin does not represent me as a woman in any sense and her candidacy scares me. She clearly is not in any way ready to lead us today or after November 4th.

Sarah Palin makes a vote for McCain, in a time of war and recession, irresponsible.

Just the remote thought of Palin as our leader is simply incomprehensible. On another note, I think the huge turnout is due to people just making sure that Bush didn't somehow wrangle his name onto the ballot in some underhanded way. Hell, I wouldn't put it past him!

  1. From the comments above, it seems that the voting process is quite well under control compared to serious difficulties being reported today in Virginia, Philadelphia, Nevada, Ohio, and St. Louis, among other places. That's encouraging, but there are still large differences among communities in terms of how long it takes to vote and how long the lines are. It doesn't appear that the wait time is so long in MA that some are discouraged and leaving their place in line, as was reported in Columbus, OH. I believe that our polls are staffed by volunteers: if you are fortunate to live in a place where there are lots of such dedicated people, there are hardly any lines and voting takes about 2 minutes. But just one staffer in City Hall, Boston, and consequent very long lines? That sounds like a problem that can and should be fixed. More poll staffers in place should be easy to achieve at the community level. Having had experience with both the lever-type and, currently, the paper/optical scan ballots, I prefer the latter by a large margin. If they are not a state-wide standard, they should be. Quick, verifiable, reliable, in contrast to the touch-screen machines causing problems in so many states.

Senator Obama got his message across calmly, clearly and conscisely. Senator McCain was less successful - it seemed to be his only platform was to tear Obama apart. There was nothing positive about what he had to say. Senator Obama seems to be the start of a new, better era for our country. And for those who bemoan his lack of experience, let me remind you that Jesus had no leadership experience, either.

I cannot vote for someone who will cancel the Bush tax rebate and actually be raising taxes for those making 45K a year. He will then say he didn't do it, he just didn't re-up on Bush's bill. This is a masquerade on Obama's part and I can't understand why intelligent people can't see through this. 1. To BostonJ, #33: I voted in JP first thing this morning. A HUGE line at the Curley School, but it moved quickly (I was there about a half hour altogether). The poll workers were surprisingly organized and efficient, and the folks in line were all respectful, helping each other figure out wards and precincts, and everyone seemed to be in good spirits. So don't wait -- just go and enjoy the experience. Make sure you get there before 8:00pm so that you'll be able to vote. And remember to vote on all three referendums at the bottom and on the back of the ballot. Cheers!

You do have two honorable men running. McCain has gone out of his way to correct misstatments, and his comments at the Smith dinner were gracious to the extreme. For the most part, the men ran on their different views of the world and the country, and how to get there. On Style, McCain is far more aggressive and impulsive, and Obama is more deliberative, if we can believe the campaign behavior. For me, it came down to McCain's choice of a trickle-down supply sider in Phil Gramm as his economic advisor, and the selection of Sara Palin as VP that confirmed my choice of Obama. But, I just hope that the lesson of 2008 is NOT that failing to do character assassination means you lose.

And of course, the final one is acting like people who don't think like you and Sarah are not "real" americans. That tired act is going out.

I know that Massachusetts will go for Obama even without me getting up to vote, but I definitely couldn't NOT vote.

And to anyone who thinks that it would be a good idea to rip apart my opinion, it's really not worth your time. I'd love to see universal healthcare, I'm not afraid of socialist policies, and as a feminist, I'm actually pretty happy to support a candidate who won't marginalize my rights because I'm not a man.

The person who hands you the ballot put my name on a post-it note! Then I voted. Then the police offer that accepts the ballot refused! The polling location manager made lots of phone calls. Then they had me fill out a "Mail in Voter Registration Ballot" and they kept the original registration receipt. They did let me vote, and accepted my ballot with the rest. It was close - too close to call. It's disgusting that in 2008 none of this was solved.

  1. So I am watching the National news idiots and I for one CANNOT STAND how they can project winners with LESS THAN 10, 20, 30, 40 or EVEN 60% of the Precincts reporting in. That Faux-reporter Katie Couric and her station cannot even read the screen in front of them, Giving a state to Obama when the percentage numbers clearly show it for McCain. Now listen, I am not here to bash one candidate or another, my beef is with these news stations PROJECTING and putting check-marks next to a candidate when SO LITTLE of a state's precincts have reported back. THERE SHOULD BE A LAW THAT THEY ARE NOT ALLOWED TO DO THAT UNTIL AT LEAST 75% of precincts have reported in. THAT REALLY ANNOYS me that you can call a state for a certain candiate when only 9% has reported in. For example, how can you give Massachusetts to Obama when ONLY 9% of precincts have fully reported in? Tell me how does that happen? How can you come on TV at 8:06 and tell me that Obama won Massachuetts when I AM SURE there are still people waiting in line at 8:06 (their vote counts as long as they entered the line before 8:00PM) So tell me how they can be allowed to get away with it. Just another example fo the media controlling and reporting how they want to report and putting their spin on it. All three stations ALL have different numbers to boot. Maybe it should be time to start looking at eliminating the Electoral College votw? ANy thoughts? I mean, you see how a certain guy is winning popular vote, but he will lose electoral college? Why In mass., does it show MccCain winning popular vote (at the time of writing this) yet They all report Obama has won Mass? How can Obama win Maine with only less than 1% reporting in, accoring to CBS new. That is absurd. You can't call or even PROJECT that FOUR minutes after 8 PM. with such a narrow margin of popular votes, Anyway just my two cents. And to reference that Family Guy show on Fox, "Yo know what really Grinds my gears!"

Face the fact that good, bad, or indifferent Obama is probably the next president of the United States and it will not be accompanied by the sixth sign of the apocolypse.

With any new president there should be a clean slate. Obama will prove himself worthy or run himself into the ground soon enough, but it is self-defeating to allow the negativity of his election to tarnish what he hasn't done yet.

Skyrocketing electricuty rates - he told you that he wanted them.
Higher gasoline prices - he wanted those too, just was concerned that it went up too quickly
Civilian National Security Force - maybe you all are comfortable with Obama's proposal for a national security force with the strength of the US Army. Not enough cops, FBI, State Police, etc for you?
Fewer jobs - the cost of the fraudulent carbon cap Obama wants to impose. Jobsand energy go hand in hand. No energy growth, no job growth.
Enjoy it between now and Jan 21, 2009. Once he gets in the magnify glass will be on him. The press - who amit they do not even know much about him and the people around him- will turn on him quickly to cover their arses for the pathetic job they ahve done.
