A woman was killed in Plymouth early this morning when the minivan she was driving burst into flames after ramming a stand of trees in the median of Route 3, State Police said.

The woman, whose name has not been released, died at the scene, State Police said in a press release. She was the lone occupant of the 2004 Honda Odyssey.

The woman was driving north near Exit 2 when she crashed at about 2:45 a.m. It was not immediately clear whether she was wearing a seatbelt.

The wreck partially closed northbound Route 3 for approximately 2 hours. The crash remains under investigation by State Police and the Plymouth police and fire departments. Mass Highway assisted troopers at the scene.

  1. A little too descriptive for a news story. Not all of this story was necessary for this woman's family and friends to read. Seems like sensationalism has been turned into the norm in news lately without feelings of victim's loved ones. My deepest sympathies to the loved ones of this woman on their loss.

  1. Yes, typos should be corrected.

But seriously, don't you have anything better to do than to make sarcastic comments on news websites? The world has enough snark as it is.

  1. I love it when people complain about editing with mistakes in their complaint. Jenny, periods and commas go inside the quotation marks.

  1. Peace to the victim's family and friends.

  1. Seriously I would hate to have one of the dopes that commented be related to the person who died! The first thing you notice is a typo - not a death? Wow real sensitive people out there huh?
My heart breaks for the family - how tragic.

  1. @Dave: Jenny is not a writer for a major news site from whom we expect professional proofreading.

  1. As most of these pathetic posts demonstrate, this kind of news story should never have "comment" section. Someone has died...let them rest in peace.

  1. Sensationalism has always been a part of the news media. Look at old news reels and I think you'll be surprised at what you see.

  1. Dave, the commas only go inside the quotation marks, if you are quoting something someone said. In this case she is only putting quotes around the words in the sentence to accentuate them. So, Jenny is correct.

  1. Dang that was one terrible crash. Hopefully she wasn't drunk.

  1. Dave,
That's not always true, it depends on the structure of the sentence and where and what is being quoted. Still, I know what you mean. We're lucky we're not reading code like this...

    u r sooooo cuil

We'll be in real trouble when Globe staffers start writing like that.

  1. The woman who died was a secretary at my high school. She was truly the niceness woman I have ever met. All my prayers go out to her family. Today I was in the main office and her desk was being cleared out, the whole school was in mourning. I feel terrible about this accident.
Also, Ray, please have some respect. That was rude.

  1. Also, about Sharon's comment, I agree with you completely. Just hearing that she died was enough. It was horrible to read this story with descriptive details, it made me feel worse.

  1. As someone who knew the victim, I agree, this should not be a post with a comment option, though I am sure the family would appreciate the sympathetic comments.
However, I know I am a bit offended by that some individuals have taken this as an opportunity to criticize the media or comment on typos; I am not sure her loved ones would like to see something so traumatic turned into a feast for trolls.

  1. Just to seal the record for all of you imbusels, that is my Aunt Patty that was killed in this accident. For people to come on here and make useless comments and start arguments with people about TYPOS??????should find better things to do. She was the most caring and generous loving person, and a wonderful mother. Now she is gone out of our lives forever. Think about your family and see how it would feel to read such things in a time like this.

  1. I apologize for offending people with my typo comment. I realize I should have written to the Globe editors, not posted on the comments. I am just so tired of the lack of professionalism from news sites lately. Of course I felt that the accident was terrible when I read about it, and my deepest sympathies go out to the friends and family of the victim.
