Somerville Police seek suspect in stabbing

A police sketch of the suspect.

Somerville Police are looking for a man who robbed and stabbed a 22-year-old woman Monday night as she walked home from the Sullivan Square MBTA station on Washington Street near the Charlestown line.
The Somerville woman struggled with the suspect when he tried to snatch her handbag. He stabbed her in the chest, possibly with a long screwdriver. She sustained a serious injury. The suspect took the purse and fled on foot towards Charlestown, police said in a statement.
The suspect is described as white, 30 to 50 years old, 5-feet-8-inches to 5-feet-11-inches tall, with a stocky build. He has a round face, short neck, thin lips, and puffy, dark-colored bags under his eyes.
Police are probing whether the suspect is the same man who has committed several other recent street robberies in the Somerville area.
Anyone with information is asked to call Somerville Police detectives at 617-625-1212.

did you see this? what other street robberies have their been?
I always wonder how close those drawings are to what the real person looks like, hope they get him.
croz should be careful!
Poor girl! I am so sick of people (men AND women) not being free to go about their lives without sleaze-bags like this guy, taking their stuff and hurting them. Seriously, please make an example, judges.... take these violent low-lives off our streets and let us law-abiding people live in peace and safety. I hope this young woman recovers fully - inside AND out!
Is that a mixing bowl on his head?
Looks like one of the ticket scalpers that hang out in front of the Garden!

Wow, that really narrows it down. The drawing looks like so many people, and when they do eventually find the person, in answer to your question, Mike, I never think the suspect looks like the drawing, which is creepy in itself.
I'd be worried if I were a stocky white man between 30 and 50 years old and between 5' 8" and 5' 11" wearing a hat in winter. The police are always under pressure to catch someone, anyone. And with that description, should be a slam dunk.
Why is it OK to describe a white criminal in the paper but the paper is always afraid to say Black criminal in the paper. It happens more often than not.
There is a supposed new police outpost at the cross of franklin/broadway, however, I have not seen an increase in police foot patrols, although there seems to be a great amount of meter maids in the area. Perhaps a shift in priorities is necessary.
looks like mike paquet
Looks a little like Sgt. Schultz from Hogan's Heroes, without the mustache.
I honestly agree with honestly's comments. I've noticed this too when reading the Globe for years and always wondered about this discrepancy when describing suspects, or should I say only the "white" suspects. Perhaps there's a lot of white guilt over there on Morrissey Blvd???
I agree with Sue....get these maggots of the streets......stop listening to the i led a terrible childhood excuse.....leave em in jail with no parole
Dude, my friend totaly saw this guy on the bike path in somerville!
I feel that Somerville Police Dept is the most untrained ,unprofesional, and has the most internal problems than any other Police Dept. in the State .They just tried to charge 3 youths for the Bank robbery in Stop and Shop any thing to make a arrest I have witnessed this first hand being a somerville resd. for over 40 years From the Joe Macerelli and Leo Martinni and Burnie Doherty days I have sen it all Oh and his son is right in his fathers foot steps a aregent one way offercer that does not car about 2 sides to a story! How about the Dieanna Cremens Bungled Case..Thas the worst investagation I have yet to see !police Dept. handle
honestly,
What are you talking about? They say "african american" when referring to suspects all the time, when it's warrented. Pay closer attention.
it looks like the guy who sells the newspapers in the mornings right off rt.99 exit. maybe the police should check that out.
