One person was killed this morning when a pickup truck was hit by a municipal sanding truck in a multi-vehicle crash on Furnace Brook Parkway in Quincy, State Police said.

The accident began when a 2006 GMC Yukon hit a 2003 Acura at a red light at the intersection of Waban Road and Furnace Brook Parkway around 9 a.m., said State Trooper Thomas Murphy.

The crash pushed the Acura into the intersection, where it struck the passenger side of a 2002 Chevrolet pickup truck traveling east on the parkway.

That collision caused the Chevrolet to go into the westbound lane and collide head-on with a 1998 Ford sanding truck owned by the city of Quincy. The male driver of the pickup truck was pronounced dead at the scene. His name was not released.

The driver and passenger in the Acura, the driver of the Yukon, and the driver of the sanding truck were all transported to Quincy Medical Center with minor injuries, police said.

Police are investigating whether weather conditions were a cause in the accident.

  1. so quick to get a story out..... what about the details?
this is the kind of blurb that people read and start to worry sick about thinking it could be a family member.
    hack reporting at it's best.

  1. This story has a factual mistake. There is no red light at the intersection of Waban and Furnace Brook.

  1. How much do you want to bet the driver of the GMC was on the phone?
