The Beacon Hill insider was Governor Deval Patrick's pick to replace Bernard Cohen.
Aloisi has deep roots in the Big Dig and is expected to help build support for Patrick's impending transportation bureaucracy overhaul. He will also likely be employed to help smooth over Patrick's effort to implement a series of controversial toll hikes, which the Massachusetts Turnpike Authority board could vote on later this month. In a radio appearance last week, Patrick left the door open to backing off the toll hikes.
Cohen stepped down Jan. 2. Undersecretary Jeff Mullan has been serving as interim secretary.

This is a deeply disappointing appointment by Gov. Patrick. Instead of the visionary, immaginative person we need to guide and fund the next generation of Commonwealth public transit projects, we have a possible corrupt individual who has "deep roots" in a corrupt project that should never have been built in the way it was: a deeper tunnel with a park and Silver Line scotch-taped on the wrapper to make it presentable.
MASSACHUSETTS IS SYNONYMOUS WITH CORRUPTION.
WE SHOULD ALL MOVE TO RHODE ISLAND TO BANKRUPT THIS STATE....then we'll see who has the last laugh
