Firefighters battled winds and 20-degree temperatures to control a three-alarm blaze on Burrill Avenue in Lynn this morning.

The blaze was reported at 9:03 a.m. and knocked down by 11:33 a.m. Firefighters were still chasing pockets of fire this afternoon, said Fire Lieutenant Thomas Bogart, head of the department's communications center.

No one was injured. Eighteen people were displaced by the fire, which also caused minor damage to a second building, Bogart said.

Lynn Firefighters were assisted by companies from Swampscott, Nahant, Revere, Lynnfield, Salem, Marblehead, and Peabody, Bogart said.

Patrick Baldwin, a spokesman for the American Red Cross of Massachusetts Bay, said Red Cross staff and volunteers were on the way and the organization had reserved hotel rooms in case they were needed.
