Hearings to examine utilities' response to ice storm
By Globe Staff
The state Department of Public Utilities will hold six public hearings as it examines the response by local power companies to last month's ice storm, which knocked out power to 350,000 households in Massachusetts.
There will be at least one hearing in each utility’s service territory in the parts of the state that were hit hardest. The goal is to allow residents to share their individual experiences during the storm, which struck Dec. 11th and 12th.
Hearings in Fitchburg and Lunenburg will focus on Unitil. National Grid’s performance will be discussed at a hearing in Worcester; NSTAR Electric Co. at a hearing in Acton; and Western Massachusetts Electric Co. at hearings in Otis and Plainfield.
The hearings are scheduled as follows:
Tuesday, Jan. 27 -- Fitchburg
Memorial Middle School, 615 Rollstone Street
4 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Tuesday, Feb. 3 -- Lunenburg
Lunenburg High School Auditorium, 1079 Massachusetts Avenue
