A federal immigration officer from Hull was accused today of having sex with an 11-year-old child while in Brazil to deport immigrants, taking photographs of the act.

Michael Clifford, a 44-year-old immigration agent, was arrested today after a grand jury indicted him on a charge of possessing child pornography. He was ordered held without bail pending a hearing Tuesday. If convicted, he faces 15 to 30 years in jail, plus a fine of up to $250,000 and supervised release.

A woman at Clifford’s house in Hull declined to comment.

Clifford allegedly picked up the child late at night at an outdoor café in Rio de Janeiro while there on official business in March, according to the US Attorney’s office in Boston. He allegedly returned to his hotel, had sex with the child and photographed the child involved in sexual acts.

The hotel’s security camera showed Clifford entering the hotel with the child late at night and then sending the child out of the hotel the next morning, the US Attorney’s office said.

The Department of Homeland Security, Office of Inspector General and Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Office of Professional Responsibility in New England are investigating the matter.

  1. Horrible story. I'm so glad that ABC gave the Department of Homeland Security a prime time TV show. Do you think this will make it into one of the episodes? Um. Probably not. The show is reviewed by the Department before it airs, so I doubt they'd let a story like this through.

  1. The Boston fire truck crash will get more news then this federal agent story about the everyday functions of our political structure. Cambodia seems to be the red light district for most. Only change is the location of "Brazil" or it would not be reported at all. #1. this guy must have done this many times! they were on to him! who knows how many kids he raped! You can not handle the truth! multimillionaire businessman Don Haidl received a car, gun, badge, "get-out-of-jail-free" card when the youth was charged with a gang rape of a girl younger then this.,thousands of dollars in bribes and kickbacks in exchange for the power of his office.

  1. Hey Disgusted~

Yes, the man (Clifford) is a disgrace and deserves to be thrown screaming from a helicopter. But that doesn't mean the scum that we throw out of this country every day (the rapists, gun-runners, MS-13 and 18th St. gangmembers, drug dealers, etc.) are innocent. Get your head out of the sand. Or - better yet - go live somewhere else. Outside of the improvement, nobody will notice your departure.

One man's horrible act does not erase the acts of rape, murder, arson, gang activity, drug smuggling, human smuggling, terrorism, and gun crimes a large quantity of deportees have on their records. Sorry to pull you away from reading Karl Marx to read my retort, but there you have it.

  1. Completely disgusting, there are no words to describe how that federal agent represents his country. I hope they penalize him severely!

  1. It is not unusual for pedophiles to have positions of authority. Police, boy scout leaders, teachers and others from all walks of life. In common they are bullies who are immature and sick. Isn't there some kind of psychological testing that can be done?

  1. To posts #6 and 7: It is true that some (by no means all) deportees have committed crimes that deserve punishment. This does not in any way diminish the awfulness of the crime described here. Nor does it mean that people who are deported deserve to be under the care of people like this. Yuck.

  1. And of course a bureaucrats has to pipe up with claims that illegal immigrants are all gangsters and hooligans. Of course the majority are nothing like that and simply want the opportunity to be exploited by employers who know they can't complain because thugs like him are waiting to abuse them if the employer makes a phone call.

"Of course, the majority are nothing like that." On what authority do you have to draw such an uninformed opinion? Unfortunately, there are pedophiles in every walk of life. Every color, creed, and social/economic background has such scum. Federal Agents are no different. Michael J. Clifford is no more a reflection of Federal Agents than a gang-banging illegal alien is a reflection on immigrants. Life is not that simplistic. My neighbor is a government agent and he is - by all accounts - a fine husband and father. He is embarrassed by Clifford's actions, and does not wish to be painted with the same brush as Clifford. Just as hard-working immigrants don't wish to be seen as system-mooching criminals just because some immigrants are just that.

    You know nothing.

  1. Ok so let me get this straight, all Homeland Security enforcement personnell are thugs waiting to abuse poor illegal immigrants when the employer makes a phone call? Not only is that stupid, but completely mis-informed. This guy was a sick disgusting exception to the rule and there is no way that sane Americans should think ANYONE else should be lumped together with a pervert like that, much less other Federal Law Enforcement personnell. Oh, and the illegal immigrants had nothing to do with the story but I'll add my opinion which nobody will like - they are "illegal immigrants"!! That means laws say they can't be here whether criminal or not (and many are). And your tax dollars do and always will go to paying for Federal Law Enforcement, and also the illegal aliens. I'd prefer to eliminate one of those.
