Here comes the cold

Get ready for the deep freeze. Today’s temperatures in the 30s may seem positively tropical later in the week, when the temperatures are expected to plunge towards zero or below -- and that’s without counting wind chill factors which could make it feel 10 to 25 below.
Temperatures tonight will drop to around 20 in Boston and the upper teens in the suburbs. Snow showers or squalls could bring a dusting of snow as an Arctic air mass moves in. Along the coast, the snow could mix with rain and pavements could become slick in the early morning hours as the temperatures fall.
“If it’s not treated by the morning, there could be a slight glaze,” said National Weather Service meteorologist Bill Simpson.
For the next few days, it will get colder and colder. And just to make sure Bay State residents have to get out in the cold, a small snowstorm will drop 1 to 3 inches of snow in Boston early Thursday and more to the south, Simpson said.
Thursday night could be the worst, with temperatures in the low single digits in Boston, 5 below in the suburbs, and as low as 12 below in western Massachusetts, without even counting the wind chill factor. Friday night will be almost as frigid.
The normal high for Boston around this time of year is in the mid-30s, but forecasters predict the mercury will only reach 9 during the day Friday. Saturday and Sunday are expected to be gradually warmer, but the temperature isn’t expected to return to the mid-30s until Monday.

brrrrrr ......
The poor suffering bloke Quest Internal captures my feelings about sub-zero wind chill and howling frigid wind. ARRGGGHHH!
My cousin lives in MN and sent a text today saying it's 20 below zero with the wind chill making it feel like 32 below. Guess that's the lovely weather we can look forward to.
That's a great pic; certainly captures the spirit of this article!
How about also publishing a few uncropped pics of the full, snow-accented sculpture for us out-of-town-ers? — TIA!
uggh.. i hate winter

WE ALL SHOULD BE LUCKY THAT OIL AND GAS IS REASONABLE COMPARED TO LAST YEAR WHAT ABOUT YOU NATURAL GAS PEOPLE HOWS YOUR WALLET DOING

My baby is due on Friday. I came on one of the coldest days of the year in '78, only fitting he / she comes this Friday.
a-mac: You should do the most responsible thing and check yourself into a hospital right away. It will cost more, but you don't want to take any chances on being stuck in traffic, snow or with a car that won't start.
oh, please. like we haven't been through this before. stop whining--what are you people, Californian?
It's all Bush's fault.
Cold is in the eye of the beholder and this beholder thinks its freakin cold.
Why do I live here???
Gee I guess all the riff raff bars will have their average patron loser type inside on his cell phone--no doubt oblivious to people around him--these losers act like a White House call is in the making to them....
For the rest of you: please. no messages about your Minnesota winters. We know about midwest winters. Please.
'Come to Florida' Jose writes.....
Ah Jose, a minute please with you.
We dont like Florida
We speak English and we like it anywhere but Texas, CA or FL.
Keep your Miami Vice T-Shirts, we dont really dig billions of old and down-and-out types in FL.
Comprende?
Still can't believe the Giants beat the Pats...

The winter that golbal warming died!!! (oh yeah, I mean climate change, sorry)...BTW, doesn't the climate change every day? What a bunch of bull. The Algores of the world used to believe that the earth was flat, and that the universe revolved around it....when the media induced hype finally subsides, global warming will be remembered like the Y2K fraud, only much, much more costly....

After this winter we are really going to deserve a wonderfully warm spring! I used to live in CA and we'd get the same weather (warm and sunny and 75) every day for 8 months. BORING. At least with winter we can make it through this frigid patch and then revel in the slow thaw. stay warm!
Every time there's a cold snap the ignorami come out and start mocking global warming. Did it ever occur to these geniuses that if the world's temperature went up by one degree fahrenheit it would still go down to 1 degree in January in Boston rather than zero? Global warming DOES NOT mean the end of winter. But at the margins, the glaciers continue to melt and sea levels will rise, and yes, there'll still be winters, snowstorms and cold spells in Boston - or that part of it over 20 feet above sea level.
Stanton is to be commended on his idiocy. Whatever or whoever gave that fool the right to question the majority of scientists around the planet? The fact that he has a computer? Get a clue fool. First it gets cold and then the bull excrement hits the ventilating device. They taught me that in high school 100 years ago. Let's see Stanton, first the ice all melts sending sea levels to record highs and creating climate crisis, once stasis is achieved everything gets warmer. Have trouble understanding that just wait a few years or better yet look at the coast line. Ask someone who owns a house on Plum Island what they think about climate chage. Don't throw away your swim trunks Stanton you're going to need them. Al Gore is one of the few world leaders brave enough to tell it like it is.
Bring it on!
Here in the OC it was 83 today, the LOW temp last night was 72, and yesterday the high was also 83. It's supposed to cool off to 79 by the weeked,,,,
Global warming is a complete and utter fraud perpetuated by the liberal media. Believe it if you shall, but would it not be better to focus your attention on our tumbling economy. If we do not start MANUFACTURING product here, everyone will be toast.
We cannot be China's toadie forever.
in the 70's scientists thought we were going into an ice age and suggested we spread soot over the ice caps to warm things up.. the polar cap was actually tropical in the past and here is one for you... how much CO2 u think is in the atmosphere??? 78 % nitrogren 21% oxygen 1 %all other gasses,, of that 1% .038 is CO2.. another fact.. middle ages CO2 levels were higher than they r now.... lots of cars and factories back then huh??? so go ahead and believe we actually have any affect on the warming and cooling cycles of Earth.. put in cap and trade systems that will destroy our economy... this is SAD
This is my first winter below 65 degrees. I'm from Los Angeles... I hope to survive this winter. I hope to survive this winter. I hope I hope I hope. bbrrrr
Global warming denial people:
Before y'all haul off about "SEE ITS COLD I FRIKKIN TELL YA THERE AINT WICKED PISSA NO GLOBAL WARMIN" do yourselves and the rest of us a favor and learn the difference between what is meant by the word "climate" and the word "weather."
Then. go back to listening to Rush and Hannity and forget what you learned.
Global warming is a new religion - so arguing with it's adherents is pointless; they wouldn't change their point of view until Ice Age (which isn't going to happen anytime soon either).
