An 80-year-old Barnstable man was found dead Friday after being reported missing about two weeks ago.

Robert Ouellette was found at 2:30 p.m. on the back deck of a Truro home by the caretaker of the property, according to police. Thinking that Ouellette had fallen from the roof, the caretaker called 911.

When police arrived on the scene, they found Ouellette’s car on an adjacent property, according to a Barnstable Police statement.

Ouellette was reported missing Dec. 30. He never came home after leaving a car dealership where he had some work done on his car. The last confirmed sighting of Ouellette was later that afternoon at a Falmouth convenience store where he was asking for directions to Barnstable.

Police said his wife told them that Ouellette had no ties to Truro. Police are investigating why he would have been in that area.
