FBI, police seek help in finding kidnapper
By Globe Staff
The FBI is looking for the public’s help in solving the kidnapping this week of a woman who was grabbed by a stranger as she was opening a Rhode Island nail salon, then assaulted and dropped off at the South Shore Plaza shopping center in Braintree.
The woman was kidnapped at about 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at a nail salon on Atwood Avenue in Cranston, R.I. She was freed at approximately 11:15 a.m. at the Braintree mall. She was transported to a hospital, where she was treated and released.
“We just don’t really have a lot of information, so we’re really looking for the public’s help,” said Special Agent Gail Marcinkiewicz, a spokeswoman for the FBI, which is working with the Cranston police because the kidnapper crossed the state line.
She said police are interested in talking, for example, to people who saw the woman dropped off and might be able to identify the vehicle or the kidnapper. Police asked anyone with information to call the Cranston Police at 401-477-5143.
