Why would the Mass Turnpike Authority close access to the eastbound ramp at at Interchange 16 ONLY DURING RUSH HOUR? Just to annoy the Western commuters who are already paying the highest tolls per mile on Massachusetts Highways?
Because the Pike is only three lanes there and the volume of traffic coming from 128 North cutting over to the Pike via Rt 16 is pretty significant (plus a few cheapskates coming from 128 South via Rt 30). If they were to enter at Newton Corner a fourth lane accommodates the additional volume. However - the state has been researching the disaster that is Newton Corner and it doesn't sound like they're going to invest the money to fix that mess.
Why was the Tobin Bridge down to 1 travel lane outbound during last night's rush hour? Is this a planned closure, and how long will it last?
