South Shore teacher accused of statutory rape
By John R. Ellement and Andrew Ryan, Globe Staff
BROCKTON -- Police described an Abington elementary school teacher today as an obsessive predator who allegedly seduced a 13-year-old boy and carried on a sexual relationship that lasted for 18 months.

Christine A. McCallum, 29, had become like a surrogate mother to the teen, who was being raised by a single father, prosecutors said today. That relationship allegedly progressed to snuggling and kissing after McCallum plied the boy with alcohol. Then on Feb. 7, 2006, she allegedly had sex with the teen for the first time, said Assistant Plymouth District Attorney Michael Scott.
The boy, who is now 16, told police that over the next 18 months he and McCallum had intercourse every other day for a total of "approximately 300 times," according to a police report filed today in Brockton District Court. She gave him a cell phone so they could communicate, authorities said, and wrote him a series of letters that while not overtly sexual depicted an obsessive woman in the throes of an intimate relationship with a teenager.
"We truly believe that this person was a predator," said Chief David Majenski of the Abington Police Department, speaking at a press conference. "I would hope there are no other victims, but I certainly wouldn't rule it out."
McCallum has been charged with seven counts of statutory rape stemming from seven alleged sexual encounters that investigators said they were able to document. She appeared in Brockton District Court today with her husband of five years, Scott, at her side and pleaded not guilty to the three counts that allegedly occurred at the teen's home in Abington.
McCallum was released on personal recognizance, outfitted with a GPS monitoring device, and ordered to report this afternoon to Hingham District Court, where she was arraigned on the remaining charges. The other four counts of statutory rape allegedly occurred in Rockland, where McCallum lives.
"These are very disturbing allegations, especially when they involve someone who is in a position of public trust within a school," Plymouth District Attorney Timothy J. Cruz said after the brief hearing. "I'm concerned about the victim in this case, I'm concerned about a 13-year-old child because that's what you are when you are 13 -- you are a child."
Defense attorney Frederick McDermott disputed the prosecution's facts and said there was no evidence that his client ever had sex with the teen. McCallum had become like a surrogate mother to the boy, McDermott said, and the relationship never progressed past that point.
McCallum holds a master's degree in education from the University of Massachusetts, her lawyer said. On her Facebook page, the native of Coventry, RI, says she earned her undergraduate degree from Northeastern University in 2002. McCallum is a 1997 graduate of Coventry High School, said her Facebook page. Her husband is a 1994 graduate of the same school.
McCallum began working for the Abington School District as a tutor and paraprofessional during the 2006 academic year, according to Abington Schools Superintendent Peter G. Schafer.
McCallum was fired on Thursday from her current position as a fifth grade teacher at Woodsdale Elementary School, according to Schafer, who would not discuss the details. The allegations are "of great concern and we will be fully cooperating with authorities in their investigation," Schafer said in a telephone interview. "We do everything humanly possible to create the safest environment for the children."
McCallum met the alleged victim at the Abington Public Library when she began tutoring his younger brother through the school district, prosecutors said today. The alleged victim was never one of McCallum's students.
In the letters that McCallum allegedly wrote to the victim, she pledged her love for him and urged him to keep their relationship secret, according to Assistant Plymouth District Attorney Michael Scott, who read excepts aloud today at her arraignment.
"There's no question I will choose you over this job," McCallum wrote of her teaching position. "That's a very easy decision."
In a message sent to the boy from her MySpace page, McCallum wrote: "It's hard to be in love with you and set boundaries for you. It's hard to kiss you and tell you no."
The boy's father discovered the letters in 2006 and was disturbed but did not think that McCallum and her son had a sexual relationship, according to Chief John Llewellyn of the Rockland Police Department.
"He couldn't comprehend that this person was a predator," Llewellyn said.
The defense, however, disputed that the letters included any evidence of a sexual relationship between McCallum and the boy. McDermott said the letters showed only that she had served as a surrogate mother, a relationship that ended in July 2007. McCallum caught the boy stealing liquor from her home, McDermott said, and when she tried to impose boundaries, they stopped talking.
Recently one of the teen's friends told his mother about the alleged sexual relationship. That mother told the teen's father, who went to police. McCallum was arrested on Thursday.
Edwin Toomey, 12, attended the Center Elementary School in Abington when McCallum worked there.
"I thought she was awesome" Tooney said, who was interviewed with his father's permission. "She was cool, she wasn't like other teachers ... she was kind of, like, young ... she was very pretty."
His father, Robert Toomey, said he also knew McCallum through the school. "She was professional. She had a solid reputation as far as I'm concerned," Robert Toomey said.

no pictures? for shame!
sounds like the "Walpole coach child rape"... the female version.
Seriously... a few weeks ago, people were on here saying that the ENTIRE TOWN of Walpole should be blamed for Danny Villa... Anyone feel that same hatred toward the town of Abington?
This is happening all over the country. Go to www.schoolteachernews.com and click on the Scandal page. Last year, in 2008 they documented over 480 of these types of incidents in 2008
I'm waiting for her pix to be splashed in the papers a la Danny Villa from Walpole.
if that is indeed her facebook page, she is married. This is beyond humiliation for her poor husband. I think it is terrible what she did to this child. But her husband is the other victim; everyone he knows is reading this too and its awful.
How do we know she's even guilty yet? We say children aren't mature enough to consent, but we assume they are mature enough to tell the truth. As for the double standard, it exists and maybe that says more about the reality of biology and sociology of people than the "should-be's" of equality and justice.
As far as 16 yr olds vs 13 yr olds "consenting" to sex, I believe there is a difference. I knew what I was doing when I was 16, even when it was with someone 20 years my senior, even if I shouldn't have been doing it and they should have know better. With a 13 yr old on the other hand, someone needs to protect them, because most times they are barely used to kissing. Even though media would have you believe otherwise
i don't think how the victim feels is the best gauge of the crime. the point is it's illegal, and for a good reason. what if she got pregnant? is a 13 year old boy or girl going to be a good parent? who bears responsibility? i guess a mature adult ought to recognize the implications if they were thinking with their head instead of something else. same situation with the guy in walpole - no difference.
a 13 year old has usually passed puberty and is sexually mature. at one time a 13 year old was considered an adult, may have had offspring and was possibly half through his/her life. things are a bit more complex now and it's hard enough raising children for 2 intelligent, committed adults. the real point from a legal stand point is that sex can lead to children and minors are not known for their good judgement in such matters. isn't this is why we make a distinction between minors and adults - a presumption of good judgement and responsibility (clearly not always the case)? whether a 13 year old enjoys it is irrelevant - most would - male or female - sex is pleasurable, why wouldn't they. unplanned, unwanted children can and do create unnecessary complication in society. not like the laws prevent it, but it does create a barrier for a whole lot of people, i have no doubt.
shame on her....why would u take advantage of a little boy and consider it 2 be ok....whoeva thought this happeneing is ok maybe ur child should of been the one rape 2 really see how if feels to have someone take advantage of ur love ones expecially a GROWN ADULT at that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Where are the "Pedophile" comments that every one seemed to throw around for Villa? This child was 13. Seems like a worse situation to me.
These events remind me of a book I read 45 years ago that addressed the problems we are reading about here. That book was written 4,500 years ago. [1500 years before Solomon drew from it to write Proverbs.]
The "Instruction of Ptah-Hotep" represents the knowledge a young man was expected to know when he became sexually mature at age 13. He was expected to show that he learned it by writing down those lessons. A particularly memorable image that I recall from the book compares infidelity to carrying hot coals in a basket. You can carry them for a little while, but as recent events remind us, you can't carry them for long without them burning through.
Perhaps we might heed some good instructional material that has withstood the test of time -- a few thousand years.
Why is this one a "teen" rapist and Danny Villa a "child" rapist? This teacher started having sex with the boy when he was 13. The girl with Danny Villa was 15. Why the difference? They are either both child rapists or they are both teen rapists.
Shame on Abington for sweeping this under the rug in order to go on to the Super Bowl. Oh wait....that was Walpole and it was a teacher / coach / Athletic Director that was previously given a "gentle warning" about inappropriate relationships with students..
See! They are exactly the same!!!
As a teacher and a woman, I am OUTRAGED. If true, this is clearly a person who used her position to lure a child (consentual or not) into an VERY inappropriate (and illegal) relationship. Just like Coach Villa...throw the book at 'em! You both FAIL.
Please remember these are allegations - there is the possibility that none of this ever occurred. If it did, it's deplorable, but just because she stands accused at this time doesn't mean it's a guilty verdict.
Witch hunt! Why is she fired from her job for being ACCUSED? Remember, people, this is America -- innocent until proven guilty?? Sound familiar??
and why is the 44 year old teacher/coach in Walpole "having an extramartial affair" with a 15 year old girl while a 29 year old teacher/tutor "raping" the 13 year old BOY?
They both might be guilty and both children might be victims, but right now they are only accused.
I'll wait to see if this is a another case, but a boy this time, of falsely accusing someone who reprimanded him/her of rape. False accusations by young teens far outnumber the actual occurances.
People will continually treat this case and the Walpole case differently. It is without a doubt a double-standard and will never change, only a matter of time before she has her own reality show.
I think it's important that we not judge this woman until she is found guilty in court. Obviously, she crossed some boundaries but as a teacher for middle school students with severe emotional and behavioral issues, I see them hurl false, and serious, accusations at teachers all the time. Some resulting in accusations and investigations, that ultimately, have cleared the teacher. This article did say that the father found these letters over two years ago and didn't find them to be sexual in nature. It wasn't until this kid blabbed to another kid, and that kid told his mother that this even came out.
If in fact she did commit this crime, shame on her for taking advantage of a young boy. statutary rape is disgusting no matter whom is being perpetrated.
Anyway you slice it, she is likely to get the female sentencing discount if found guilty, a few years, counseling and probation. Men -life in prison. Women - poor little victim needs a second chance...
First off M..St. Louis, Learn to spell and not text your way through life.
Secondly, this is disgusting. These people shouldn't be thrown in jail, they should be thrown off a bridge with a cement block tied to their legs.
I can't believe the husband would still be standing by her side. He mustn't have a back-bone. Lock her up and throw the key, like they would if she were a male.
A 13 - 16 year old boy is not usually being coerced into having sex. Give me a break.
All I have to say is "Where were these hot blond teachers when I was a teenager!!"
Men and women alike, if you don't have self control and understand your weakness than don't lead, lots of tempation out there, learning how to handle
them. That's what a leader is all about. if you think you can not handle that
weakness than take a break. There such thing as change jobs or career.
why couldnt of i had teachers like this
she was my teacher!
Last time I checked you are presumed innocent until proven guilty. their is a lot of holes in the prosecutions argument. How does the school fire hire even though she has not been convicted of anything yet? Will be interesting to see how this one ends.
damn, 300 times? I'm almost twice as old as this kid and there's no way I've had sex even half that many times.
It seems the crime is more heinous if the adult is a man. Children are influenced by adults regardless of the sexes involved. Can't the papers see this? Media spin on this is a joke. It's like the reporter had different rules for different folks. I wonder now if she will get the same bail or will the judge be as biased?
She used to work for my elementary school. This saddens me sooo much. She WAS a great teacher, until I found this out.
I give props to the kid.But then should'nt be a surprise for anyone.Kids have crushes on their teachers all the time.So if a teacher shows it that she likes a student. If its a boy he is going to jump on it,as fast as he can to get those panties off.
I remember being that age, 13, getting comfortable and realized through experimentation that I was able to achieve an orgasm. I didn't actively seek to reach the end result, but through doing things that felt good I managed to begin my sexual journey. With respect to this boy, I can only feel sorry for him because instead of being able to take his own path, someone much older and in a position of authority took advantage of him. it's hard for me to understand why there are so many predatory females in the world, especially working in education. Is it because the alleged rapist's psychological profile is that of a 13 year old, which "allows" her to feel more comfortable in seducing someone of that age? If we were to contemplate how society views male vs female relations of any age, especially when it comes to one's first time, obviously the viewpoints may indicate that the alleged victim COULD HAVE ACTUALLY ENJOYED being with the teacher. The victim telling friends who told their parents led to the downfall...but I digress yet again. I will not take any sides until a jury has reached a verdict, but I will pass along my sympathies and best wishes to both parties.
Abington isn't a bad town. It isn't easy to tell which teachers are honest and what teachers are inappropriate. It isn't just to judge a town based on one teacher's actions This type of situation has occurred in hundreds of other towns as well. I feel for the boy and as a previous student of Woodsdale i am shocked but it it not fully the school's fault
As a woman and a teacher, I'm outraged! If this is true, they should throw the book as hard as her as to Villa. Both of these ADULTS used their respectful positions to take advantage of KIDS. I don't care if their was consent or not...you just don't "go there".
When I was 13, all my teachers looked like Bea Arthur. Dang!
JD Manley
Why are people so outraged by this? It was probably the best 18 months of this boy's life.
Since she is relatively attractive, she'll get a slap on the wrist and life goes on. Only male and unattractive female teachers get jail time.
As others have noted, it is stunning the different reactions to this as opposed to the Walpole coach. Truly stunning.
#2 except SHE pays $10,000 bail, HE pays $57,500, but they originally wanted a total of $150,000.00....there is definitely something wrong there MEN...
I wish I had her for a teacher when I was 13.
So the Abington school department is firing this women over an unproved allegation? She should be put on, at most, paid administrative leave until this case is taken to trial under law.
It sounds like this woman took advantage of a young boy who needed a "mother figure" in his life. She doted on him, told him she loved him and then began a sexual relationship with him. I don't know what this child was going through but this woman was seriously messing with his head. She deserves to be tried as a "pedophile" because that's exactly what she is. If it were a man, there would be now question as to what his charges would be.
I agree with some posts here that 13 year olds today know exactly what they are doing (and somewhat more than I do at age 44) but the fact that she was in a position of authority over this boy is kin to sexual harassment. Therefore, I can't be sure this 13 year old was acting on his own free will. Yes, I know that 13 is waaaayy too young to even consider having sex but as we all know, it happens every day. Nevertheless, statutory rape laws exist although many need to be modified to take into account such incidences like a 16 year old girl and a 18 year old boy. That definitely shouldn't be statutory rape.
How come I never encounter a teacher like that...?
I feel bad for this poor husband that she has. He probably had no idea what was going on! Did she and her husband have any children? I also feel bad for Villa's wife and kids! They don't deserve any of this, and it's terrible how both families have to learn more and more about this on the news. Both cases are terribly sad...especially for the families it involved and let's not forget the young victims in this case. If both defendants are found guilty, then I hope they go away for a long time!
Victim? Only the poor husband.
When I was a teenager there were some cute teachers I would have shagged! :)
She is pedophile. She was released.. wow! had that been a male, or worst yet, a BLACK male, he would have been remanded in custody WITHOUT bail. It is sickening the double standards that still apply in MASS. I forgot, she isnt a pedophile, just suffers from depression and suffered an abusive childhood. She won´t spend hardly anytime in prison, after all she is young, white and attractive and doesnt fit the profile of a pedophile. She is a predator and should be treated as such. I feel sorrry for her husband, but he can find better, she obviously has issues.
This goes to show how badly males have been feminized! 300 times in 18 months! Then complain?
She's much hotter than danny villa.
ah, hypocrisy at its best. a couple of weeks ago people were all over villa, the coach at walpole. however, because this is a female teacher doing it to a boy, it is less serious? where's the vitriol for this criminal? anyone else think that those who should be pursuing equal rights and fair treatment are men? go into any family or criminal court and you will see how unfair the laws are.
I agree the teacher difinitely should have known better. As for the kid I'm not sure that I feel sorry for him(more like jealous), I never had those kinds of benefits when I was in school. He scored at 13, I had to wait until I was 17, makes me and the rest of my friends look bad.
So she didn't die on the Challenger.
Have you ever heard the quote, "It takes an entire career to fire a teacher"? I'm sure one believes that this hasn't been happening for generations. The firing criteria is different from state to state and this teacher lost her job only because she was caught and outed. What about the teachers that everybody knows about but the no one put the "career time" in to get them away from the children, and that's what they are, children. ie Natick High School, 1974 to present.
Nonsense. It is only with recent history are we shocked at this kind of story. This used to be considered normal; some girls being young as 12. The mental development of an adolescent may be a little immature but some adolescents have a very ADULT sense of cause and effect. In other words some may have had their TRUST betrayed but don't tell me some didn't know exactly what was going on. This affair went on for how long?! And NOW it gets reported. I have sympathy for the husband. As for the others I'll wait and see.
She is young, and attractive and female. I would like to think she gets the same treatment an equivilant male teacher would get. Or, are they going to say "it didn't really harm the boy?"
If it was a male teacher preying on a young girl he'd get sent away for a long, long, time.
Our society particularly advertisers are constantly thrusting sex at children, pre-teens, teens male and female adult advertisers, soap operas, titllating sit-coms and v=even parents are pushing kids into "adulthood" constantly. "We" adults then constantly pass judgements assigning labels to natural impulses. "Rape of a child older or younger than this or that" Non-forcable rape to of a child older or younger than this or that. I suspect some one found them out and now the witch hunt starts along with the labels. When I was 15 and being huit on by a youner woman I wouldn't have turned her in!
300 times!!!! Whew, you know she doesn't have kids (or headaches)!
Pam Smart! Sicko!
Clearly, Walpole needs to play Abington in football. Villa goes free if the Rebels win, McCallum if the Green Wave win. Additionally, the winning town will have it's name cleared forever. Let's settle this on the gridiron like the Pilgrims did.
what a sick-o!
#5, won't happen!! a la, she's female!!! She's sleeping comfy w/her pillow!!! "Alleged Disgusting Piglet!"" I want to hear from BIG HOSS and lil' dFAUST,,,what are ur comments big walpole SPORTS degraders?? No comments or are you still shit-posting on the walpole team/town blog with why this hasn't anu to du w/ur comments? Oh, I see you only comment on sports related alleged rape defendants....does that make you feel manly?? COme on HOSS, sit for 7 days and comment, u to mrfaust/pastrebel , jeez dfaust, make a song up about the town of abington and their schools.....everything fine in your minds in this case, then move there????????????????
Fortuntaley for this alleged rapist there was a tragic accident w/the brotherhood union, and SO VERY UNFORTUNATE FOR US, the media, newspapers, ..posters, etc don't have the time to rip her laundry and her family apart! dblstd
"...rape of a child without force."
Uh, Boston Globe, I believe it's called "statutory rape."
I think this will be interesting to compare what she gets for a sentence compared to Villa. I think there might also be rules for over or under 14. That age seemed to keep being mentioned for Villa.
Women should get the same as men.
I think most 13 year-old boys would jump at the chance to have sex with an attractive older woman. I appreciate that the law doesn't care, of course. That said, it is absurd to call her a predator given that there is no evidence that the boy withheld consent. I mean, they had sex for years—until he was 16, even. I'm a pretty scrawny guy, but at the age of 16 (and probably younger) I could have overpowered a svelt female in her late twenties.
Seeing as it wasn't forced, one would have to assume that neither she nor the boy were harmed. In fact, they probably both liked it. The law will take its course and, if found guilty, she'll be put in prison. But her only crime was in failing to accommodate the puritanism of her peers.
The boy told police that over the next 18 months he and McCallum had intercourse every other day for a total of "approximately 300 times" ... that seems like a lot, seriously folks, ... this teacher and the child had other lives to live, where did they find the time, the place and the privacy? For 300 times? No one had a clue for 18 months? ... something may have happened but it may not be as the prosecution is describing it ...
In the Old Testament, a 13 year old is no longer a child. Today they're something in between - actually an young adult but we infantilize them. The other teenage boys are not angry at the "predatory" teacher, they're wondering how they can get some.
Of course, now that "concerned" adults are telling the boy something horrible has happened, he'll probably believe it. Put enough bright lights in the average suburban teen's face and after a while they'll believe what TV and newspapers say about them. Really what's up is he's off to a great start, but a certain type of adults are jelous that they didn't do so well when they were teens and are determined to take it out on this kid. That's the truly sad part.
A woman rape a man? Please. Sounds like the summer of 42. A great movie.
You morons seem to think this has something to do with the wits of the child. It has nothing to do with child, but the resposibility we place on our adults not to F children! It's the adult's behavior that matters, that's it. It has nothing to do with the seductive powers of the freakin' kid, you idiots. Do you people have absolutely no sense of right and wrong? Where the hell did you grow up in a Wii box or something. It's a good thing none of you are writing laws.
I'm sorry but she is wrong to do this - horrible HOWEVER, this boy is NOT a victim. He's a hero. lol
It's EDMUND Toomey!
That crazy pedo cow better get a prison term. She took the boys innocence and he can never get that back.
She is lower than dirt and is now a registered sex offender that will have to stay away from potential child prey forever.
I don't like the double standards that goes with this type of child molestation when it comes to gender. Why is it that if it were a man the public reaction as well as the courts would be a lot harsher , but when it comes to women, especially the young pretty types, there is a whole lot of excuses to be made. These are children, and both boys and girls are victims of this type of perverted mind set. I don't care if the culprit is a man or woman, young or old, black or white, tall or short, fat or thin, it's a crime and should be treated as one, no matter who. Our children deserve a lot better from society then this.
I agree with one of the previous posters, right now these are allegations and individuals should be considered innocent until proven guilty. As a middle school teacher I have observed that teens particularly early teens are much more wise to the ways of the world these days, and that they know how to work the system. They know far more than their teachers, parents, and society think. It would not be too far fectched with all this in the news that all you have to do is make an accusation and you can ruin a persons career with very little in the way of repercutions if it is found you are lying. The young man in quaetion could have a vendetta, maybe he wanted a relationship and she didn't and he though "if I can't have her no one can." She should be treated as innocent until proven guilty. If proven guilty put her under the jail.
She's no Deb Lafave, that teacher was so hot...seriously though there cannot be a double standard; although I believe on some level that consensual relationships can exist between persons of age 26 and 13, our laws are clear and are in place to protect children. If she is found guilty of rape she must serve very hard time.
Want to know what's up. Her husband is standing by her because he is having an affair with her brother. She is totally aware of this. This certainly does not excuse it but it shows how messed up she is in the first place. Where was she when I was 13? Damn.
To hippydippy.. your post is great, I respect your wisdom, its sad , so sad that adults find humour in he irresponsible and predatory behavior of an adult teacher entrusted with the responsibility of teaching teens, but who uses this authority to seduce and violate one of them. How sad that a crime against a child can be viewed with such a flippant attitude. Thanks again hippydiddy for your wisdom among such stupidity.
I find this kind of ammusing. I know the kid through friends and even if you cant prove the sex part.. why would you write letters? Thats giving evidence enough. She will definatly be in jail for a while.
Poster#43, Jane I couldn't have agree with you more and I hope the court can
just let others know that teachers and professors should take their jobs
more seriously. I always look like a teenager to others and I know I have to
very serious otherwise no one would take me serious.
With a few exceptions, most of you can't write, can't spell, and can't think. Note to 'public school teacher', it's consensual. And, M...St. Louis, like someone said already, learn to write, learn to spell and stop texting (or is that how you hide the fact you can't do either of the 1st two?).
How has she been found guilty already? It's awful if true, but I can see another possibility - she's saying she has to say no to him. He may have stolen liquor from her and then she cuts off communications? Anyone come up with another possible story here? Why don't we wait and see what comes out at trial.
What's particularly disturbing for me is the fact that I've been a schoolteacher at many different schools for the better part of the last decade. I've been fired by people who rarely, if ever, teach and who usually spend most of the time at work policing the premises, talking on the phone, attending meeting after meeting, wasting time on computers, and, occasionally, carrying on illicit sexual relationships with coworkers, or, like we're seeing here, with students, who are always under the age of consent. None of this, surprisingly, is shocking to me as much as it may be to some people. How people who do this continue to work in schools when I struggle to stay employed as a good teacher with top credentials is beyond me.
I believe boys used to call this "hitting the lottery".
It's suspicious that a 16 year old kid claims he was assaulted 300 times in 540 days or so and takes that long to speak up. 16 year old boys aren't exactly known for telling the truth. The POINT is, there is certainly more to the story than we are getting.
There's a double standard with teachers. If the teacher is make with a teenage girl they're labeled a monster and the public wants them locked up for years. When it is an attractive young women in this case, people think that a teenage boy having sex is not as bad. Well in both cases when a teacher braches the trust of public of being a role model, teacher and the like in such a situation. There are many who are hurt: the child, the school system, the parents and the teacher for throwing their life away.
This 13 yr old boy is currently the envy of all his friends......
MI44: I bet there is more to the story. What a very long time for things to go on unspoken. And that it all comes up after they stopped talked because he got caught stealing liquor. I think post #19 by democraddict has an excellent point. Even unfounded accusations can have a devastating effect; predatory behavior is indefensible, but there isn't nearly enough information to start a Crucifixion, let the law take its course.
This is suprise news. First time news for my life, besause I didn't hear in our country.
I still cant understand the double standard most of you feel. Teacher like Villa has sex with a highschool girl and he's a predatory pedophile. Woman teacher has sex with 13 yr old and many are saying no problem, its consensual. Really dont get the mind set there. It was consensual for that young girl and Villa too.
Should be the same rules for both and same jail sentence.
There is something wrong in the morale of this country. How can some one have sex with a little boy???how can anyone even think about such a thing??just imagine the bright eyes, the little hands and a confident face of a little boy(for me all people younger than me are children, brothers and sisters).how can someone perpetrate such a thing to a child??This teacher is a wild animal and needs to be put in a cage in a zoo.not only her,but all evil perpetrators of children need to be thrown into a zoo.And chris who said that this guy is the envy of all his friends is a jerk.how can you say that???he is a rape victim and do you like to be raped in that manner.shame on you.
kids may be lying its not proved yet, i feel sad for this respacted teacher and his family, people should't talk until proven guilty by court.
i pray for her to come out clean and get her job and respact from her husband and family.

We really should hold off on judgement until all the facts come out. In a general response to this topic, I can say that I grew up in a very good town with an excellent public school system. From 8th grade all the way up until college, every few years, there were rumors of impropriety between teachers and students. Usually male substitute teachers involved with female students. I think its more common than most of us might want to believe. There are a lot of idiots out there. Whether they are school staff, parents at home, or the kids. We all need to step up and demand more accountability from everyone, in everything they do.
I agree that Math doesnt add up here. If this type of relationship was going on for that long, you would have to figure that the boys father or womens husband sure as heck hell would have known about it. When I was 16, I probably said some things that I would like to take back because they werent true. But I was trying to impress friends too.
With all that said though, if it happens to be true, god bless this boy, his family, her family and her husband
You people who obsess over verbage absolutely kill me.
This woman, like Villa, is a predator. Both were in a position of authority/power, groomed and took advantage of a CHILD who was too young to make an informed decision about what they were involved in.
These two, McCallum and Villa, are broken individuals who clearly have no business remaining free amongst the rest of us. They've violated the public trust at its most basic element - by using their de facto status as guardians of our children to further their own twisted needs.
They deserve and should receive no quarter from any of us who recognize their deviance. There should be NO tolerance for educator sexual misconduct.
Chris L is correct
Out here in california, it's every other day news.
Dividing 18 mo by two, I get 273.75 times. In any event, this kid is lying hrough his teeth re the number of times. Not even close. I understand how a relationship like this can occur. It's called love, mixed with erotic passion.
When I was eleven, I was having sexual dreams, nocturnal emissions, and starting to stare a breasts a lot. I had a brief experience with a baby sitter. We didn't go all the way, but with repeated encounters, I'm sure we would have, and these experiences were *well* before age 13.
Unless there was duress, there was no actual rape, except by statute.
I have zero sympathy for this woman. I don't care how much this boy enjoyed himself. He probably initiated many of the 300+ sexual encounters. It's still wrong and it's HER fault. She should know better! I'm speaking from experience. When I was almost 14, my girlfriend's mother, a married woman of nearly 40 took my virginity. I gave it freely mind you and I enjoyed it. This woman and I continued this twisted affair you could say for over 10 years through intimidation and threats mostly. I'm now 38 and to this day I still can't believe this happened to me. I'm sorry; you're absolutely a child at 13. I blamed myself for the longest time and thought I should have been the one who put an end to it all and never let it happened. This woman I was involved with got away with murder as far as I'm concerned. She robbed from me a big part of my life and this teacher has robbed this boy. It could have been a blast for him, but one day he'll realize it like I have. This teacher knew better! She is innocent until proven guilty as far as our justice system is concerned, but because of television, newspapers, internet, etc, people out there like me are able to chime in with opinions. If I were a member of her jury and the prosecution didn't prove her guilt beyond a reasonable doubt, I'd be the first to stand up and say "Not guilty", however, I think the evidence appears to be overwhelming. The defense can say this boy masturbated all over this green carpet in her home, but come on! If she's proven guilty, she should go to jail just like anyone else, man or woman.
I dont see how anybody can sit here and say all these things about this poor woman that none of you even know..You all think that just because she is older that its her fault...First of all information can be turned around especially when it comes to the media...She took care of that boy and he stole from her and she kicked him out and he retaliated...In this country you are suppose to be innocent until proven guilty not the other way around and you already have this poor woman getting burned at the stake..Cry wolf i personally think thats what this kid did cause he didnt get his way. None of you know both sides of the story so i dont understand how anybody can judge her.....
I'm not saying she is guilty or innocent, that is not my place. I will say that one of my family members were charged with rape of a minor child and was not guilty of the crime, only because I person, on very angry person, wanted to take everything that happened to her growing up out on my family. What I am saying is there are two sides to every story, don't believe everything the media says to sell a story. What if that couch is not guilty. Then he and is family know what we went through.
Dude I'm 13 why don't I get that type of action . LOL anyway most of you think people my age are immature and young. But the truth is I'm probbobly more mature then alot of you.Can you make a 3D computer game from scratch? Can you read 5 400 page books in a day no you can't.my point is people need to realize that the youth of today are becoming mature earlier in life with every generation. I'm not saying that what this teacher possibly did is right.I just hate the fact that we are all referd to as children we are young adults and are the majority of us capable of making informed decisitions. I simply hope that those of you out there think about what I'm trying to say. Sry for the wall. Of text
