------

-----
"First, I heard the noise and then I saw a lot of people running.''
-- Sophia Marmanidis of Sophia's Alterations and Cleaners, near the accident scene.
-----
"To think of one firefighter killed, its so sad. ... It breaks my heart. It's probably one of the guys down the street."
-- Charles Barboza, who grew up in the neighbornood

May GOD Bless the family and friends of this fire fighter who lost his life.
If the fire truck passed inspection in 2008 and the ladder in september 2008 .It wasnt that long ago. Then why did the brakes fail.thank goodness the truck didnt take out people in the street or on parker hill .It couldhave been much worse.
Sad and Ironic:
See Boston Newspapers April 22, 1950
"Ladder Truck Skids, Crashes ..." on the slope of Parker Hill Ave.
The Ladder Truck was "Ladder 26"
we can affoord to give our peice of dung legislators a raise but cant maintain our most important stuff thats typical. so agravating and dissapointing good bless tha family and freinds
It's a good thing it didn't crash into a crowded steetcar......plenty of people would have been killed and maimed.
I'd be willing to bet one of the reasons no one was killed in the street is because the officer and driver on L26 did the only thing they could to warn people. They put on the running lights, siren and hit the air horn, knowing there was no hope of them stopping.
