Weekend storm to dump up to 9 inches of snow
By Globe Staff
Sunday might be an especially good morning to sleep in. Massachusetts residents will wake up to a storm blanketing the state with as much as nine inches of snow, weather forecasters said.
The storm will begin at about 4 p.m. Saturday in Springfield, 6 to 7 p.m. in Worcester, and 8 to 9 p.m. in Boston, and continue into Sunday morning, the National Weather Service said. Boston could get seven inches, according to forecasters.
In the early morning hours of Sunday, the storm could dump an inch of snow or more per hour, said National Weather Service meteorologist Mike Ekster.
The forecasters said that an Alberta Clipper-type low-pressure system will pass just south of southern New England Saturday night and snow will overspread the area from the southwest.

Most people would interpret "midnight Sunday" to mean the end of Sunday, not the end of Saturday as you clearly intend.
See you at Shaws tomorrow!
Dear Norman,
Who cares.
Thank you,
-An illiterate 5th Grader.
Attaboy Norman!
As always, Boston Weather suck, go NYC.
Hey Norman- If they Clearly intend "Midnight Sunday", why then would you have to clarify? You're probably drunk at work.
The article doesn't even mention "midnight Sunday."
uh oh, time for everyone to rush to the supermarket and buy bread and milk, to make milk bread sandwiches.
Looks like Vermont will not get any snow from the map.
Now THAT'S alternative!
big deal, it's New England get use to!!!
where does "midnight Sunday" even appear in this article? I don't see it anywhere.
That's the place to go SHAWS
Forget the milk and bread -- grab some Coors, set it in the snow and watch the mountains turn blue!!
Hey Norman,
The only one who wrote "midnight Sunday" was you! You might want to read it again "The storm will begin at about 8 p.m. Saturday in the Connecticut Valley, will reach Worcester by midnight" and continues to read "and Boston by 2 a.m. Sunday"!
Have you ever heard of the term RTFS?
:-)
sick of the snow and sick of being unemployed, not a good combinatio
Skiing on Sunday!!
I hope this doesn't interrupt the global warming meeting on Monday.
Norman. Where does it say " midnight Sunday " ?
Laughing @ Panicked's comment! So true! People go crazy during storms. It's fun to watch!
Looks like the city and state workers will have to take next week off. Wouldn't want them getting wet.
Norman, you have way too much time on your hands.
Since when does anyone complain about getting up to 10"? 7.5 is perfect
Lets all meet at midnight sunday for bread and milk sandwiches Norman said we are all invited to his place. Norman make sure the driveway is shoveled...Norman you better start shoveling at midnight Saturday.
Why does everyone rush to the grocery store when there is the threat of a snowstorm? Don't you people have any food in your house already? Brutal. It's like Pavlov's dogs.
Cold weather is great for sleeping in, but I won't because it will be sunny and in the low 80's where I'm at(we'll be warmer than Las Vegas and Phoenix) and I might as well take advantage of the great weather in...Los Angeles.
Stay warm!!
These comments are hilarious. Also, I like that we are getting snow this year.
Well, at least you can go out for dinner saturday night. Sunday is meant to be lazy.
Time to call Domino's Pizza for delivery!
First, I agree, Norman you poor man, get a life. Second, this is Boston, if you have lived here for any period of time, snow storms are par for the course, get over it. Third, people go crazy at the supermarket when it snows because, well, they are just crazy. Stop blaming the blizzard of '78 for that. The prediction of the weather has improved dramatically, although in New England, you would never know it. And fourht and finally, according to every news story, Oprah, CNN and anyone else who will listen, Americans are obese and shoveling snow is the only excercise we will get this year. So enjoy it while it lasts.
thanks for all the laughs! this was hysterical to read :)
Poor Norman. He probably is sitting at the edge of his bed contemplating his life like the fat kid in "Pump Up The Volume." You all could be his Christian Slater tonight. I hope you can live with that.
P.S. it snows way more in Afghanistan right now and there are no Cumberland Farms to run too for milk and bread.
EVERONE SHOULDRELOCATE- BOSTON IS A SCUMMY PROVINCIAL CITY
Maybe we should all eat skim milk bread sandwiches.
Oh my god snow is on the way. I better go back to the market and get another 5 gallons of milk. We could be stranded for months. Oh by the way while I am here would anyone like to buy some beef jerky I bought for Y2K? It's only 9 years old.
please help me pray the snow away,i'am so sick of it
We're in Boston. snow happens. deal with it.
Snow in January? How odd.
Please, this is New England. Seven inches? Meh, a dusting ...
Ah bummer, I actually needed to go get milk at the store....now I am going to have to contend with all the freaked out "snow shoppers".
my bear fat tells me 4.5 ihches
Remember to check your dog's paws when they come inside from playing in the snow. Trim off hair or fur that growns between the pads as that is where ice balls form. Impacted ice balls can cause sore paws. If the pads of the paws look cracked or dry rub some Bag Balm on them. And keep toenails trimmed so they got traction on the ice. Now get out the shovels, help your elderly neighbors, and have some fun and exercise in the outdoors!!!
norman, aprende a lier primero. la nieve es para el sabado amanesiendo domingo.entiendes?
"it snows way more in Afghanistan right now and there are no Cumberland Farms to run too for milk and bread."
What kind of nut buys bread at Cumby's? It's cheaper at a grocery store.
Good morning. The freethinking of one age is the common sense of the next.
