Firefighter injured in Newton blaze

NEWTON -- A firefighter was one of several people injured early morning in a three-alarm blaze at home Newton, according to witnesses at the scene.

The firefighter was conscious when he was carried out on a stretcher from the scene on Los Angeles Street. WCVB-TV Channel 5 reported that the firefighter fell through two floors. Those details could not immediately be confirmed.
A witness at the scene also said he saw two people being loaded into an ambulance, one of whom appeared to be a teenager with a hand burn. Channel 5 reported that they were a mother and son, which could not immediately be confirmed.
The blaze erupted at 6:05 a.m. at 104 Los Angeles St. and tore through the 2 1/2-story frame home. The fire has been extinguished.
