Carol Banville enjoyed the scent of a rose during a special Valentine's Day tea at the Women's Inn at Pine St. in Boston today, where more than 60 guests were treated to tea, cookies, cupcakes, roses, assorted finger sandwiches, and singing by a Wellesley College a capella group.

Barbara Trevisan, a spokeswoman for the shelter, said the event is intended to be a morale booster for the residents. The facility, the largest women's shelter in New England, can accommodate 100 to 110 people per night. It's often full and sometimes arrangements have to be made for overflow guests. No one is turned away, she said.
