Power went out to about 4,000 NStar customers in Framingham, Wayland, and Natick this afternoon, including the Shoppers World mall in Framingham.
The power went out at 1:09 p.m. and was restored about 9 minutes later for about 3,000 of the customers, including the mall.
Another 1,000 had to wait another 35 minutes before power was restored, said Caroline Allen, an NStar spokeswoman.

Who cares. No one shops there. It's a dump.
That'll show people to spend money like they have expendable income. They should be glad the power went out on them!
And this is a big red "NEWS ALERT" banner at the top of Boston.com.......why????????????????? Power went out. It happens every day. Big whoop.
You get caught in this Friday afternoon when you were out and about? ~ D
Actually, Will, a lot of people shop there. It's not a dump.
But think of all the people that were trapped on the escalators!!!!
what angry people here...take a nice hot bath
Framinghams shoppers world is the best! Such great deals
and why is this a news alert??? unless people started looting...lol
Yes, this is news to those of us who work and live in this area who were trying to figure out what was happening via Blackberries, iPhones and other wireless devices. Because the news doesn't affect you, doesn't mean it isn't news.
boston.com has deteriorated faster than the job market! everyone do yourself a favor and switch your browser load-page to nytimes.com.
i hate to say it, but sometimes parents know best.
I hear the natick mall was out too, along with surrounding busnesses and traffic lights.
This article is slightly inaccurate. Its not just stores, its everything along rt.30 and rt. 9 in Framingham. Including my office which is now operating on backup generators. So this is actually news worthy. Id like to know what caused us all to loose all power and connections for almost an hour.
It is a HUGE deal when temperatures are this low if power stays off for a while. My house lost power at this time. Give me a break. Use a little common sense. 10 minutes isnt long, 1 hour or longer would have been.
I was heading out of the Lowes in Framingham. I think that, hey, how come this light is taking so long? Look up and look at the light, oh, it's off, no wonder!
It's an alert because the traffic lights on Cochituate Road were out also
Re: "Who cares. No one shops there. It's a dump." - Just because it is beneath you that doesn't mean that the 1000's who shop at Best Buy, DSW are nobodies. If no one shops there why is it so hard to finding parking there on the weekends?
Re: "That'll show people to spend money like they have expendable income. They should be glad the power went out on them!" How nice it must to be so right and self righteous. And not the least little judgemental. Of course while there may be many people you disapprove of I am sure there is no one there trying to pull together a few dollars to replace their completely worn out shoes with someone from DSW or the refridgerator that they've nurse through along for 30 years and it just non longer is going to work or be repaired. Of course not no, no the only reason people buy things is to be judged by others.
10 minutes?! You are all a bunch of idiots.
We lost power in New England? In Massachusetts? In a suburb of Boston? In Winter? I'm shocked. l wonder how many of you would have survived the first day following the landing at Plymouth Rock? Not many, me thinks. This "Commonwealth" is the joke of the nation, and y'all are the reason why.
Make sure you have a cell phone. Never know when you may stub a toe and need to call 911.
It sure is hard to soar with the eagles when you are surrounded by turkeys
