Their money was funny: Boston men charged with possessing counterfeit money
By Matt Collette, Globe Correspondent
Three men are facing charges of possessing counterfeit money after two unrelated incidents Friday, Boston Police said today.
Early Friday morning, police arrested Daniel Mondesir, 24, of Randolph at a downtown bar after he allegedly attempted to purchase drinks with counterfeit $20 bills. Mondesir had more than 24 of the bills, and staff at the bar found another stack of bills after he was arrested, police said.
Mondesir was charged with possession of counterfeit money and uttering a fraudulent document. He is to be arraigned Monday in Boston Municipal Court.
While searching the bar, police also found a Massachusetts driver’s license that belonged to a 28-year-old Boston resident named Evans Mondesir. They could not find him at the bar and said they intend to summons him to Boston Municipal Court on possession of counterfeit money charges.
Later that day, police found more counterfeit cash during a drug raid on a Roxbury apartment. Robert White, 50, was charged with possession of counterfeit money after police allegedly found 14 bogus $20 bills. He also faces a charge of knowingly being present where heroin is kept.
Police also arrested Taylor Dotten, 45, after the raid at his Dudley Street apartment. Dotten is facing charges of possessing heroin with intent to distribute and possessing heroin with intent to disribute within 1,000 feet of a school.
Both White and Dotten are to be arraigned Monday in Roxbury District Court.
Officer Eddy Chrispin, a police spokesman, said the two cases did not appear to be connected.

Any chance we can send Boston's finest after Bernake?
When are they going to arrest Ben Bernake for doing the same thing?
Hope they can tack on the $140 that he or his friends passed at the bar that I work at in Allston
Change for a $20? Used to hear that called out by all the cocktail waitresses in the Combat Zone back in the day. RIP Jeanette and Viola. We miss Playland -- 21 Essex Street rocked!
