A teenager was stabbed at the Roxbury Crossing MBTA station about 3:10 p.m. today, MBTA spokeswoman Lydia Rivera said.

The 16-year-old victim had just walked into the station when he was stabbed. He then fled toward the fare gates where he was stabbed again, Rivera said. She said she didn't know whether there was more than one attacker.

He was taken to Brigham and Women's Hospital with stab wounds to the back and arms. Rivera said his injuries were serious but not life-threatening.

The incident prompted the closure of the station for more than 45 minutes. Transit Police are investigating.
