An Arlington storeowner is in critical condition today after he was allegedly hit early this morning by an alleged drunk driver, police said.

Police arrested Alex Lambino, 22, of Somerville after she allegedly hit a pedestrian on Massachusetts Avenue around 5:40 a.m. today.

Lambino is being held at Arlington police headquarters on $1,000 cash bail, said Police Lieutenant Robert Bongiorno. She has been charged with felony negligent operation of a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and is to be arraigned in Cambridge District Court on Monday, Bongiorno said.

The pedestrian, whose name has not been released, is a local business owner who was coming into work to open up his store. He is in critical condition at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Bongiorno said.

The case is under investigation by local police and the Middlesex County district attorney’s office.
