Mayor Thomas M. Menino launched a campaign website this afternoon that made it clear he is running for an unprecedented fifth term.
Menino is expected to make the formal announcement this evening that he plans to seek reelection.
The Globe reported today that the 66-year-old mayor had decided to run again. Menino is already on track to be the longest-serving mayor in city history, with 16 years and six months in office when he finishes this term in December. If he wins and completes a fifth four-year term, he would have spent more than two decades as mayor.

Many moons ago, Mayor Menino stated unequivocally that he WOULD NOT run again after his second term ended. When he stated his intentions to run for a third term, he was asked by a reporter about his previous promise.
His response? "Well, I meant PER CENTURY."
All cuteness aside, his " 2 terms per century" limit has ALSO been reached for this century. Time to hang it up, Menino, and be a man of your word. For ince.
More promises . . . more promises broken
time for him to go......................
hey menino, don't forget to shut the door on your way out. thanks!
I'm voting for the man Ralph Martin supports.
