Tobin Bridge traffic advisory for the next weeks
Over the next couple of weeks, motorists on the Tobin Bridge will see a new lane configuration on the upper level southbound before the toll plaza and a temporary closure of the Beacon Street off-ramp on the lower level northbound in Chelsea.
On Tuesday, the left lane closure before the tolls will reopen, and a new closure of the center lane will begin after the Everett Street on-ramp to just before the tolls. Traffic flow will split allowing motorists to use either the left or right lanes. The center lane closure is expected to last into May.
Preparation work for the new lane configuration will begin after rush hour tomorrow night at 8 p.m., and run through 5 a.m. on Tuesday. Traffic flow will be reduced to one travel lane during this time.
On April 22, the Beacon Street off-ramp in Chelsea will temporarily close for paving operations. The closure will begin at 5 a.m. and re-open at 10 p.m. that evening.
As an ongoing reminder, the upper and lower levels will continue to have intermittent single travel lanes some evenings while this phase of the $22 million re-decking project proceeds according to schedule. On the upper level, project work during this time is expected to last into summer with intermittent single travel lanes occurring at times from 8 p.m. until 5 the following morning. While on the lower level, intermittent single travel lanes will occur from 10 p.m. until 7 the next morning, through the end of the year. All ramps will remain open.
Massport works in conjunction with the 511 Information Service which allows motorists to dial 511 from their cell phones to get real-time traffic conditions or information. Motorists can also visit www.smartraveler.com
All work is weather-permitting.

Will this ever end? I can't believe how long this construction has been going on... How long does it take to paint this freaking bridge!??
