Plans for former Weather Underground Organization member William Ayers to speak at Boston College sparked controversy. And he never did appear. But Ayers says he will call into a student-run radio talk show this afternoon at the college.

BC senior Steve Wagner, who co-hosts “Blowback with Steve and Bill in the Afternoon” on WVBC with senior classmate Bill Sadd, said the duo extended an invitation to Ayers to be interviewed on their program after school administrators canceled a March 30 student-organized lecture by Ayers on the school’s Chestnut Hill campus.

The 5 p.m. interview will cover Ayers’s thoughts on the canceled lecture, academic freedom on college campuses, and education reform, Wagner said.

“Blowback,” a political talk show, can be heard live every Thursday at 5 p.m. WVBC can only be heard on BC cable channel 47 and on iTunes via www.wzbc.org/AM.html.

WVBC is the training ground for BC’s student run radio station, WZBC-FM.
