Boston man drowns in Costa Rica; brother missing

A Boston man drowned Sunday while vacationing in Costa Rica, and his younger brother is missing in the Pacific Ocean and presumed dead, a Costa Rican law enforcement official said today.
Darnell Zimmerman, 25, and his 24-year-old brother Jermaine had been vacationing with a group of friends at a remote beach called Playa Azul, near a turtle sanctuary, when they went swimming and apparently were caught in strong currents.
Darnell Zimmerman's body was found around 2:10 p.m. Sunday, said Rafael Angel Araya Cordero, regional director of the police in the western province of Guanacaste. Authorities are still searching for Jermaine Zimmerman, said Araya Cordero.
The brothers graduated from Scituate High School -- Darnell in 2002 and Jermaine in 2003, where he was named to the honor roll several times – and were devout Jehovah’s Witnesses, said their sister Sarcha Auguste. They belonged to a congregation in Jamaica Plain.
Darnell worked in a physical therapy clinic and Jermaine was an automotive technician, she said.
