Gas leak evacuates 6 homes in Hyde Park

A construction crew apparently severed a gas line this morning in Hyde Park, forcing the evacuation of about a half dozen homes, a fire official said.
The fire department received a call at 8:40 a.m. about a construction crew hitting a gas line at 195 Greenfield Rd., according to Steve MacDonald, a department spokesman.
As a precaution, officials evacuated about a half dozen nearby homes, MacDonald said. The gas company is on the scene near Calvary Cemetery, working to shut off the gas.
