Navy Week full of free activities

The fifth annual Navy Week kicks off today in Boston with free tours of the USS Constitution in the Charlestown Navy Yard.
Activities over the next six days include an F-18 flight simulator on City Hall Plaza, a concert by the Navy Northeast Showband at Faneuil Hall, and a sunset parade in Charlestown Navy Yard to honor Captain Shawn Murphy, the first mate of the Maersk Alabama, a container ship hijacked in April by Somali pirates in the Gulf of Aden.
Here is the full schedule for Navy Week:
Tuesday, June 30
10 a.m.-5:50 p.m. USS Constitution, Charlestown Navy Yard - free public tours
10 a.m. USS Constitution, Charlestown Navy Yard - boarding pike and gun drills
Noon Harborfest Opening Ceremony - Faneuil Hall Marketplace
2 p.m. USS Constitution, Charlestown Navy Yard - boarding pike and gun drills
6 p.m. Navy Northeast Showband Concert - Faneuil Hall Marketplace
Wednesday, July 1
10 a.m.-5:50 p.m. USS Constitution, Charlestown Navy Yard - free public tours
10 a.m. USS Constitution, Charlestown Navy Yard - boarding pike and gun drills
10 a.m.-6 p.m. F/A18 flight simulator and Chevy Suburban - City Hall Plaza
11 a.m. - 2p.m. Community Service Project at the New England Shelter for Homeless Veterans,
17 Court St.
2 p.m. USS Constitution, Charlestown Navy Yard - boarding pike and gun drills
6 p.m. Vice Admiral Kevin McCoy is the guest speaker at the Boston Rotary Club
meeting, Park Plaza Hotel, 64 Arlington St.
Thursday, July 2
10 a.m.-5:50 p.m. USS Constitution, Charlestown Navy Yard - free public tours
10 a.m. USS Constitution, Charlestown Navy Yard - boarding pike and gun drills
10 a.m.-6 p.m. F/A18 Flight Simulator and Chevy Suburban - City Hall Plaza
2 p.m. USS Constitution, Charlestown Navy Yard - boarding pike and gun drills
8 p.m. Northeast Navy Showband Concert, Trum Field, Broadway, Somerville. Vice
Admiral McCoy to speak briefly. Navy Medal of Honor recipients Captains Tom
Kelley and Tom Hudner will be attending.
Friday, July 3

10 a.m.-6 p.m. F/A18 Flight Simulator and Chevy Suburban - City Hall Plaza
1 p.m. Vice Admiral Kevin McCoy to present a lecture at the Museum of Science
2 p.m. USS Constitution, Charlestown Navy Yard - boarding pike and gun drills
7 p.m. Color Guard from the Navy Operational Support Center in Quincy will present
colors for the national anthem at Fenway Park for the Red Sox game.
Saturday, July 4
9 a.m. Flag Raising Ceremony at City Hall Plaza. Vice Admiral McCoy to lead the
Pledge of Allegiance
