Massachusetts State Police are investigating the alleged rape of a woman at the Suffolk Downs racetrack, spokesman David Procopio said today.

The attack occurred early Sunday morning, June 14, in the back of the racetrack, Procopio said, declining comment on the suspects and the victim.

"No arrests have been made and warrants have not been issued," he said. "The investigation is focused and ongoing."

Evidence has been presented to Suffolk District Attorney Daniel Conley's office, but spokesman Jake Wark declined comment in the absence of criminal charges.

"Every allegation of rape is investigated fully, and this one will be no exception," he said.

Troopers from the district attorney's office, the State Police Racing Unit, and the State Police Crime Scene Services Section have been assigned to the investigation.

"As soon as our security department was made aware of the incident, it alerted the on-site State Police unit of the Massachusetts State Racing Commission and we have been working cooperatively with that unit and local law enforcement since then," Suffolk Downs Chairman Bill Mulrow said in a statement.
