Holyoke murder is the city's second this year
A 23-year-old Holyoke man was found dead after being gunned down in the early morning hours, according to Holyoke police.
Joseph M. Hernandez was found two blocks from a Suffolk Street boarding house, where police believe he was killed just before 5 Sunday morning. A bloody trail led from the house to the corner of High and Dwight streets, where his body was found.
Police said they had a few credible leads suggesting what might have occurred, but no arrests have been made.
“We think we know what happened,” Captain Arthur Monfett said late Sunday afternoon, adding that he could not elaborate or release any details on their findings.
Police said more than one shot was fired, but it was not clear yet how many bullets hit Hernandez.
The murder was Holyoke’s second this year, according to police.
