One dead, one wounded in Dorchester shooting

One person died and another was critically injured in a shooting this evening in Boston's Dorchester section, police said.

The victims, a woman in her late 20s, and a man in his late 20s, were shot near 105 Norwell St. at about 7:15 p.m, police said.

The woman was declared dead on arrival; the man was taken to Boston Medical Center in critical condition, with multiple gunshot wounds, including one to his head, said Police Superintendent Rafael Ruiz.

Police have cordoned off the scene. Dozens of neighbors have come out of nearby homes to try to find out what happened.

The shooting comes less than 24 hours after another fatal shooting a half-mile away at 25 Glenarm St.
