Two injured in Bridgewater crash

A tractor-trailer truck and car collided in Bridgewater early this morning, injuring the drivers of both vehicles, Bridgewater Police said in a statement.

The crash happened around 2 a.m. near 730 Pleasant St. Both vehicles suffered significant damage. The 1996 Oldsmobile Cutlass came to rest in the middle of the roadway and the 2001 Mack tractor-trailer unit jack-knifed in the front yard of 735 Pleasant, with its cab tipped on its side.

The driver of the car, Michael Crotty, 26 of Bridgewater, and the driver of the truck, Richard Just, 46 of Rhode Island, were taken to Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton for non-life-threatening injuries.

A preliminary investigation by Bridgewater Police found Crotty had crossed over the median and struck the rear wheels of the tractor-trailer unit as he passed going the opposite direction. The collision caused the tractor-trailer unit to swerve off the roadway.

The accident remains under investigation, police said.
