Crash clogs I-93 in Dorchester
A multi-vehicle accident in Dorchester caused a major traffic jam this morning on the Southeast Expressway, State Police said.
The backup on southbound Interstate 93 stretched from Columbia Road through the Tip O'Neill Tunnel and onto the Zakim Bridge. At least two cars were involved and at least two people suffered minor injuries in the crash at 10:40 a.m., said Lieutenant Dave Wilson, a State Police spokesman.
Traffic cameras show that the wreck closed the two left southbound lanes of the four-lane highway. In the other direction, rubber necking caused delays on northbound I-93 back to Granite Street in Milton as drivers slow to look at the crash.
The crash has caused a 30- to 40-minute delay in both directions, according to SmarTraveler Boston, a traffic information service.
