Three wounded in Saugus nightclub shooting

September 19, 2009 01:13 PM

SAUGUS -- A Boston man will be arraigned Monday for allegedly shooting three people early this morning outside a Saugus nightclub that was the scene of another shooting just a week ago.

Ronjae Williams, 29, of Michigan Avenue, was charged with three counts of assault with intent to murder, armed robbery, and several weapons charges after the 2 a.m. shooting in the parking lot of the Orchid Nightclub on Route 1 North, Police Lieutenant Leonard Campanello said. Williams is being held by police. The nightclub is inside the Jin Asian Complex.

The names of the victims were not released by police, but their wounds were not considered life-threatening.

Police happened to be in the parking lot at the time of the shooting because of overcrowding in the lot, which resulted in a number of vehicles being towed.

Williams will be arraigned at 9 a.m. Monday in Lynn District Court.

A week earlier, two people were shot and rushed to the hospital after a drive-by shooting outside the nightclub. Neither suffered life-threatening wounds. No arrests have been made.

The club had its liquor license suspended in February for one night following multiple fights that broke out there on New Year's Eve.
