Woman found dead in locker room at prestigious Boston hospital
A 40-year-old woman was found dead inside a locker room at the Brigham and Women's Hospital shortly after 5 a.m. today, police said.
The woman, who was not identified, worked for the cleaning and maintenance crew at the hospital, police said. A co-worker found her body, said Jake Wark, spokesman for the Suffolk district attorney's office.
The woman is believed to have died from a drug overdose, though the drugs she used do not appear to have come from the hospital, said Elaine Driscoll, spokeswoman for the Boston Police. An autopsy will determine the exact cause of death and whatever drugs were in her system, Driscoll said.
"It's being investigated at this time as a non-homicide," Wark said.
In a memo to the staff, a hospital official said the employee died after being found unconscious in an operating room locker room. The hospital is cooperating fully with the investigation, the official wrote.
Last October, the body of Brent Cambron, 35, an anesthesiologist, was found in a storage closet at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, where he worked. Cambron died after injecting himself with various drugs he had taken from the hospital. Cramer
