Sox game, road race, festivals expected to snarl traffic

Traffic will be heavy around Fenway Park so officials urged drivers to use alternate routes.

Yawkey Way will be closed for two hours before and after the 12:07 p.m. game and again Monday if the Sox make it to a fourth game. Van Ness Street will be closed to traffic all day Sunday and Monday. Boylston Street will be closed 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. between Ipswich Street and Yawkey Way

For the Boston Athletic Association Half-Marathon, also taking place near the Fenway, traffic on the running route will be delayed starting at 7 a.m. The running route follows Park Drive at Roberto Clemente Field to the Riverway, down through the Forest Hills Rotary to the Franklin Park Zoo, following the Arborway back to the Fenway. Boston Police expect 5,000 runners.

The Columbus Day Parade will delay traffic along its parade route. The parade starts at 1 p.m. at City Hall Plaza and follows Court Street to State Street, left to Atlantic Avenue and through to the North End.

Traffic will be redirected around Adams Village for the Irish Heritage Festival from 6:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Minot Street will be closed from Saranac Street to Kenmare Road, and Adams Street will be closed from Saranac Street to Gallivan Boulevard.

And in the midafternoon, officials are warning of delays on the Zakim Bridge because a helicopter will be landing there during the shooting of a Tom Cruise movie.
