Statement from Flaherty, Yoon on deleted e-mails
Today, Massachusetts Secretary of State William Galvin announced that he has referred the case of a top aide to Mayor Thomas Menino’s misuse of public records to state Attorney General Martha Coakley’s office.

In the last three years, state and federal authorities have investigated six different departments of the Menino administration, including the Elections Department, the Department of Neighborhood Development, Boston Public Schools, Boston Fire Department, Boston Housing Authority, and now the Department of Management and Information Services.
Menino has consistently been dishonest throughout this entire process. When the Secretary of State first called for an investigation, Menino and Corporation Counsel Bill Sinnott said that they would cooperate, because any evidence of wrongdoing was an "honest mistake." But in the past weeks, the city has found a second hard drive and 5,000 more emails - which the Menino administration again said was an "honest mistake," and Michael Kineavy said he "forgot about."
During this process Secretary of State William Galvin has called the Menino’s administration "insulting and unacceptable." Menino stated days ago that there have not been "any corruption issues in my administration."
This willful destruction of evidence is not an honest mistake -- it is not a glitch.
City Councilors at Large Michael Flaherty and Sam Yoon will hold a press conference to address the issue at 3:00 p.m.
