Two men injured in Dorchester shooting

October 31, 2009 06:02 PM

Small, eager children in costume were just emerging, with parents in tow, from their homes to begin trick-or-treating this afternoon in a Dorchester neighborhood, as police scoured the area for evidence in a shooting that left two men hospitalized with wounds to their legs.

Shell casings could be seen scattered on Norton Street near the corner of Bowdoin Street.

Deputy Police Superintendent Al Andres said that the two men were shot within the past hour in the legs.

Both were taken with what appeared to be non-life-threatening injuries to the Boston Medical Center, he said.

He said the two victims were young men and the shooting did not appear to be connected with Halloween festivities.
