Forecasters say snow may fall late this week
Better find your scarf and gloves: Cooler temperatures and a chance of snow are in the forecast towards the end of the week.
Although sunny days are expected until Thursday with highs in the mid 50s, lows will begin dipping into the 30's this week. A coastal storm may travel close to the Massachusetts coastline, which could bring either rain, snow, or a nasty mix of both.
National Weather Service meterologist Rebecca Gould said there is a 30% chance of snow falling Thursday night into Friday morning.
"In [computer] models, the storm is not well-forecasted," Gould said. "The models keep changing their mind."
As of this afternoon, the storm is off the coast of North Carolina. The closer the storm travels to the mainland as it approaches New England, the higher the chance of snow falling. If snow does fall, don't expect it to be anything too major -- just one or two inches.
The temperatures Thursday evening, when the storm is expected to pass nearby, should be hovering just below freezing. After the storm passes, Gould said winds will pick up and there could be wind gusts of 25 to 35 miles per hour through Friday.
The last time Boston saw snow was Oct. 18, when snow was falling at Gillete Stadium during the New England Patriots' rout of the Tennessee Titans.
