November 21, 2009 11:56 AM

A man is being treated at a hospital after being shot in the back this morning in Roxbury, police said.

Police responded to 67 Winthrop St. after receiving severals calls reporting gunshots in the area. They found the wounded man, who was conscious and alert, said Officer Joe Zanoli, a Boston police spokesman.

Police have not arrested any suspects in the shooting, although one caller reported seeing a burgundy Oldsmobile Cutlass fleeing the scene. The incident is currently under investigation, Zanoli said.

No further details were immediately available.
