Two men wounded in Roxbury hatchet attack
Two men were attacked and wounded with a hatchet by a third man at an apartment on Blue Hill Avenue in Roxbury Friday night, Boston police said.
Police responded to a report of an assault and battery in progress at 8:56 p.m. When they arrived on the scene, they found one man with hatchet wounds to the head, right arm, and right hand. The second man had three hatchet wounds to the left side of his head.
Both were transported to Boston Medical Center where they are in stable condition today and expected to survive, police said.
The suspect, a middle-aged man, fled the scene before police arrived. He is still at large.
"Officers learned that the [men] had been drinking. They engaged in verbal altercations that escalated to one of the males retrieving a hatchet," said police spokesman Joe Zanoli.
