Firefighters doused the overturned truck.
A septic tanker truck flipped over on Route 24 northbound in Bridgewater this afternoon and burst into flames, but the driver escaped serious injury.
At 12:25 p.m., the mid-size tanker, which was towing a portable toilet, collided with the rear of a tractor-trailer, lost control, and ran off the highway, according to State Police and witnesses at the scene.
The tanker’s driver was taken to Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton with minor injuries, State Police said. He had a bloody nose at the scene.
The truck's cab was charred, but the septic tank did not catch fire or leak. Some diesel fuel spilled onto the road. The flatbed trailer carrying the portable toilet landed upright after the crash.
Route 24 between Interstate 495 and Route 104 was shut down for about 20 minutes after the accident.
