Two die in Mass Pike crashes
State Police are investigating after two people died in two separate car crashes on the Massachusetts Turnpike today, one in Westborough and one in West Stockbridge.
Geoffrey Kennedy, 49, of Nashua was killed early this morning in the Westborough accident.
He was a passenger in a car driven by Julie Hellinger of Nashua at about 2:54 a.m. when Hellinger lost control near the 103.2 mile marker. The vehicle went off the right side of the road and struck the guardrail, State Police said in a statement.Hellinger was taken to UMass Medical Center in Worcester with
minor injuries. But Kennedy was ejected from the car and fatally
injured.
Less than eight hours later, at about 10:42 a.m., a car left the roadway and struck a tree in the median in West Stockbridge, killing the sole occupant. Sergeant Matthew Murray, a State Police spokesman, said troopers were probing whether weather conditions played a role in the crash.
