Four-alarm fire damages Hyannis store
A four-alarm fire tore through a family-owned stove store in Hyannis early this morning, the fire department said.
The Barnstable Police Department reported the blaze at 1:16 a.m. today at The Iron House on Corporation Street, Hyannis Fire Captain Eric Kristofferson said. Fire was showing from the roof when firefighters arrived. The store was not occupied at the time, and no one was injured.
The Iron House, owned by the Webb family, sells woodstoves and supplies. The fire caused about $200,000 worth of damage to the building and $100,000 to the store’s contents, Kristofferson said.
“It’s pretty much a total loss,” he said.
Engine companies began leaving the scene around 4 a.m. The cause of the fire and how it spread is under investigation.
