Nancy Kerrigan says her father was 'my support'
The family of Olympic figure skater Nancy Kerrigan issued a statement today fondly remembering Kerrigan's father, Daniel, who was allegedly attacked by his 45-year-old son, Mark, on Sunday, and later died.
Nancy Kerrigan said in the statement that her 70-year-old father, Daniel, was "my support. He was there behind me always."
Her other brother, Michael, said he remembered people coming up to him in his youth and saying, "I just saw your Dad. He's the greatest."
The statement was read by a family spokeswoman, Nancy Sterling, this afternoon outside the Stoneham funeral home that held a wake this evening for Daniel Kerrigan. The funeral is slated for tomorrow, while Mark Kerrigan faces assault and battery charges that could become more serious if his attack is linked to his father's death two hours later.
