Police probe Chelsea shooting

Chelsea and State Police homicide detectives are investigating a shooting on Hawthorne Street in that city that seriously injured a man Thursday.
The 53-year-old Jamaica Plain man was shot multiple times in an alley near 12 Hawthorne just after noon. He was transported to Massachusetts General Hospital, where his condition has been upgraded today to stable following emergency surgery.
Investigators do not believe the incident was random, Suffolk District Attorney Daniel F. Conley's office said in a statement.
They are pursuing a possible connection to a 911 call for domestic disturbance at that address that was placed at 10:30 a.m. The State Police are leading the investigation due to the severity of the man's injuries, prosecutors said.
