A National Weather Service graphic shows expected average snowfalls in various areas of the state.

A quick-hitting winter storm will produce a mix of rain, sleet, and snow, eventually blanketing some parts of the state with up to 9 inches of snow, weather forecasters said.

The National Weather Service in Taunton says the highest amounts of snow will be found in the Worcester hills and the east slopes of the Berkshires, as well as in northeast Massachusetts. In the Boston metro area, the forecast calls for 2 to 6 inches.

After offering a smorgasbord of precipitation, the storm will wind up with heavy snow in the early morning hours. The snow will end Monday morning, forecasters said.
